Perry was best known to have been accused of throwing a banned pitch known as the spitball throughout his career, and was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame despite these allegations.

Franco Harris, Hall of Fame running back (Pittsburgh Steelers) and 4 time Super Bowl champion, at age 72.

Harris was most well known for the Immaculate Reception in a playoff game against the Oakland Raiders, which is widely believed to have started the Steelers dynasty of the 70s. A statue of Harris making that catch is located in Pittsburgh's airport.

His passing comes 2 days before the 50th anniversary of that play, and 3 days before the Steelers are scheduled to retire his number.

Ugh. This one fucking hurts. 60 is no age at all, and he had fantastic range as both a dramatic and comedic actor, an immediately arresting screen presence, and that fucking voice. The instant you heard him, you knew who it was - it couldn't possibly have been anyone else. And there was such gravitas to his speech. He was more commanding with a whisper than many actors are with a shout.

If you haven't seen The Wire yet, drop whatever you're doing right now and go watch it. I doubt there will ever be a greater sixty hours of television ever again. I might have to go watch it again, in fact.
