Hence why taking them away and only allowing them to be viewed on the members list/profiles is a good idea. We don't want new members to feel inferior, or for old ones to use it against them. Post count just means how many posts you've made. That's about it.

I don't really see how post counts can make someone feel inferior. To me they just reflect a person's contribution to a forum, nothing more. Besides, quality over quantity, imho.
