It's killed over a 100 people in Mexico. Over 1000 have contracted it. The swine flu spreads like any other flu, with coughs, handshakes and what have you. Thus it is not surprising Mexico has suffered the greatest.

I read that even international students in Mexico are returning to their homes in fear of getting the disease.

I read that in New York a ton of their students have contracted the flu right after coming from a vacation to Mexico. So it's stated that lots have it in New York as well.

And Reese, I think so. There's some cases in Australia, one confirmed case in Korea, ten in California, and it's basically spreading. :monster:

Oh wow. It is getting pretty bad. They haven't found anything to cure it yet? All I hear about in the news are preventions. Like washing hands and wearing masks and all that.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks considering how bad the economy is right now. I'm pretty sure that it'll decline (like it did with SARS) now that this has happened. I think there is a cure if you get help early enough. And yeah, there are preventions, just be clean and stay away from people with potential. :monster:

We have something like thirty-two suspected cases in Scotland and three in the rest of the UK.

If it does spread, it might be good for the economy - get rid of some of the people and free up some money. :awesome:

On a slightly different note - and feel free to return to swine flu and AIDs once I've asked this - what's the feeling about doujinshi here? I scanned a few recently and wondered if folks would be interested in them if it's permitted to share them here?

Uh...as you were.

LOL.

Actually though, it would probably make the economy even worse, considering how they'll close down all public outlets. Same thing happened to SARS.

And sharing doujinshi here is okay, I think.

I dunno...certainly in the UK we could do with getting rid of a large amount of freeloaders. Bankers and the like.

Ah good, then I shall try to find somewhere appropriate to post them. :)

If it's a virus, then it's pretty unlikely that they'll be able to "cure" it, since viruses mutate like crazy and always have a kabillion different strains. Curing them is much harder than most other diseases. That's why they haven't cured the common cold - in most diseases, the body creates antibodies to fight it off, etc, and then you're basically immune to that disease (see chicken pox, vaccinations for polio, measles, etc. - that's them injecting you with very weak, almost dead strains of those diseases). But with a cold, there are OVAR 9000 different strains, and you'd have to become infected with all of them to get total immunity. (if memory serves, this also applies to influenza, aka "the flu"; swine flu, avian/bird flu, etc, all different strains; hence the mediocre efficacy of flu vaccinations, and why you get them EVERY year)

Stupid viruses.

Also, morning folks :awesome:

No offense to the media, but they're overreacting with this. I hate how the tone of their voices state it too: "There has... been... one... NEW CASE, in Mexico... what does this mean? Find out after the break." And Omega, that's true, but there's already some sort of treatment for it if you're early enough to find the signs. I doubt that it'll be an outbreak to the point where the millions have it. Hopefully the number of victims is less than those who contracted SARS.

Morning. :awesome: What's up?

No it isn't you fucking dramawhore. Only 7 people have died in Mexico and 1 in the United States. Jesus.

Yeah, they'll probably find a treatment for it. Another strain of the flu is still the flu :monster:

The swine flu in Mexico has reached to 159 deaths, and one in America.

Addendum:

@Omega: Hopefully they will. They found treatment for early signs of it, so I don't think it'll destroy us all. :monster:

Also, you seem to be in a good mood. :monster:

I think Shademp is referring to the outbreak in the 1980s, and there's no need to get dickish about it. And Swine Flu is easily treated.

I wasn't really worried, tbph. I have a fantastic immune system, so I tell the swine flu to stfu and gtfo. Only one person that I actually care about catching it, and she's far from the front lines :monster:

I do?

Hi nigra. Tho I assume you won't be back in here D:

I have a terribly weak immune system, so I might catch it, but oh well. :monster:

What's up?

And also, this site is acting up.
