I'm afraid we would destroy the gene pool by making everyone "beautiful". By doing so they will share the same genetical strengths and weaknesses. This is the supposed reason why not everyone is beautiful; the uglier carry a different set of genes that may come in handy at times.

srsly? I'm kind of sceptical that facial characteristics and such are linked to other genetic traits more important for survival. Though it's possible, but it seems moar likely that we just don't have a good enough understanding of human biology to separate the two.

While I can't present any research, what I have been hearing is that in general people with symmetrical (i.e beautiful faces) are healthier than those with more asymmetrical features.
