Can't imagine what it could be like living in north korea tbh.
[/quote]
I watched a documentary on it, and it was disturbing as hell. Some famous South Korean singers were given permission to perform in North Korea - when they finished their songs, all the North Koreans were staring at them like they were crazy. It was a funny video, to be honest:

I've seen disturbing programs on their leader and the fact that if a person upset an important person or went against some serious rules, then they would never be heard of again and the family would be punished too. D=

Kim Jong Il? Yeah, he's a disgrace. And the family is punished too - they're sent to concentration camps, and forced to work till they die there. And... ugh, I remember watching this man discuss what they did to pregnant woman there. It's awful. I feel ashamed to be Korean, honestly. It's screwed up.

Makes you wonder how these type of leaders stay in power. Yeah, I guess there are groups behind them pulling strings but still *sigh*

Shademp, if you want to watch a popular N.K. documentary, here's one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHKDZhSNOP4#noexternalembed

There are lots more too. I find the best ones to be from Korea itself, but there are no subtitles. Sorry. :-/

And actually, people in Korea think Kim Jong Il is a great man. He brainwashes the powerful and rich, has a HUGE army, and the rest are either in concentration camps or are suffering in the middle of the streets trying to escape, but can't otherwise they'll get killed.

How in the world would one ever solve a problem like that? I'm normally not interested in politics or how society works, but when injustices like these are mentioned I wish I had a clear formula in front of me for a peaceful revolution...

I agree. If I could, I'd like to grab my shoe and beat the bastard that Kim Jong-Il is with it. But unfortunately, the South Korean president is just as equally as screwed up. And the sad thing about the whole situation is the fact that the North Korean president seems a whole lot more intelligent then our South Korean president right now. I mean, honestly, he has plans on making a canal bigger than the Hoover Dam during this economic crisis, and to boot, he wants to reconstruct right in the middle of mountains, where people live and have lived for centuries!? Not only will that make South Korea poor to the point where we'll be searching for scraps in the garbage can, but it'll make our country worse than it already is.
Honestly, South Korea, North Korea, and just Korea in general gets me pissed off. I'm glad to be in America and to be called an American.

They recon he had suffered a stroke or something recently because he hadn't shown up to some kind of parade plus not being seen for a few days afterwards or something. So in other words only through death will a dictator leave and then only to be replaced by someone else.

I doubt he's dead now, but if he does die soon then Korea is screwed and the world is in trouble... Kim Jong-Il is the guy holding North Korea together. Who comes next? China.

I can see why the baby doesn't like it there. They set up traps for poor women crossing the border and then execute them. Sons of bitches who do this to women imo.

It's not only to women EJ, it's to everyone, including children. Once your caught, you're either shot at the spot or sent at concentration camps - but the problem with concentration camps are that even if you were the only one attempting at an escape, your family and friends would be sent there too. They do the most horrible things to women and men and children alike, but I would never want to be pregnant if I were to be in a concentration camp. Just thinking about how they kill the woman carrying a child in the concentration camp is enough for me to feel grossed out.

I think it's safer where you are than in the N or S of either korea. 8D Well consider yourself one of the lucky lot! I, myself am bewildered why they still do this shit. But I'm confident within a decade or two, change will happen. Either by revolution or a better president. But that's just me.

Nonja: Well thank god for that. :monster:

...... Ooooh-kay, not saying that South Korea is an awful place to live in though. It looks like Japan, really, very modern - what's screwed up is the government and their perpetual argument with North Korea. And plus, I wasn't even born there. I'm an American citizen. And I don't plan on going back any time soon.

And I doubt there'll be a revolution. It's too late.

Perhaps, but who are you to determine what is injustice? We've got legal prostitution and soft drugs over here, is that justice for your standards?

Note I'm using 'your' in the general sense of the word, nothing personal, :monster:.

But the problem with injustice in North Korea itself is the fact that it's far more immoral then what is considered immoral here. We just happen to be less screwed up.
Prostitution and drugs aren't as nearly as bad as gutting a baby from a woman's stomach, me thinks. And for no reason.

As far as I know, unfortunately. A man who escaped from North Korea (the most recent refugee) lived to tell his experiences as a guard at the concentration camps.

Well I think they should send this ex guard back to the north imo.

He's been back and forth a few times to tape the atrocities of what's going on with North Korea right now. He's risking his life to bring us back information.

And hey Kunoichi, just wondering, but do you ever have to deal with wrinkles under your eyes?
