Apparently SE tweeted this, to remind everyone that photos of the remake portion of the exhibit are prohibited.

It's kinda a bit too late for that, isn't it?

Oh let them bite their foot. They should be thankful for the reignited hype.

I swear I will never understand the hypersensitivity of Japanese gaming companies. You'd think they were holding onto state secrets instead of video games.

Just release some actual info on the game and we don't have to share illegal images. It's time, for God's sake. @FinalFantasy @SquareEnix

I really wish we knew just how Square keeps an eye on their PR, and what their reactions are if they ever get these kind of comments. It's probably really only Japanese forums they have their people look at, if at all.

What are Japanese gamers saying about this game I wonder? Are they frothing at the mouth as much as we are?

It almost feels like they want you to search for those who posted them. Some sort of try-hard viral advertising of the game, since they chose not to release anything official themselves.

Google Translate produces this gem:
FFVII REMAKE image board is released for the first time at FFVII's "Slum Church" reproduced at this memorial exhibition. Although it is possible to shoot inside the church, the FFVII REMAKE image board is forbidden to shoot, so please burn your eyes.
:smashedmonster:

And it's definitely too late for that.
Just to spite them, I might make an analysis video on those hi-res photographs. :wacky:

Sure, why not? 4 pictures for you, 4 pictures for me :)

Hell, this could even be a group effort by several Lifestreamers. One user, one picture (probably without the Avalanche members artwork. I'll throw that in at the end for completion's sake).

Who'd be willing to take part in this team effort? We have already found so many details that making a video out of those findings is just a logical conclusion.

I'd go for President Shinra's Office, though I'm open for exchange.

There are 3 ways we can go about this.
1) Each contributor writes and records their own script and I'll only provide the visual representation. The individuals can of course provide me with comparison images.
2) Each contributor writes their own script and I'll record it and provide the visual representation.
3) Each contributor writes down all the findings and I'll take care of the script, recording and visual representation.

Of course, each contributor can decide their degree of involvement. Don't have a good mic or don't feel like recording? Let me do the work. Don't feel like writing out a script? I'll do that for you.

If someone feels like recording their part without a script (freestyle) that's also perfectly fine.

Ok, now it's time to call dips people! :monstereat:

Apparently Nomura made an appearance at the Art Gallery and talked a little bit about the Remake:
FF30th Art Gallery today: Seems like they updated the designs for Cloud, Biggs, Wedge and Jessie. Everything from old FFVII Remake trailers were redone and development is advancing well. Audience got a new look, but doesn't seem these imagery will be released anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure he is just talking about the images from the gallery we've already seen, but I dunno.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this anymore, but I found a little bit more on siliconera.com:

According to some of the fans in attendance, there’s been a change in Cloud’s design. According to development leader Naoki Hamaguchi, this new design was said to have finally got the go-ahead from director Tetsuya Nomura. While it’s been a struggle for the team, the hard work appears to have paid off as Tetsuya Nomura went as far as acknowledging it as “the closest one to the original [Cloud design] up until now.]

A fan attendance described Cloud’s new design as a more natural look. Nomura and Hamaguchi mentioned that “while Cloud may look this way, he was a dork. I believe those of you who played the the original would understand what I mean by saying he’s a dorky character.” That said, we’ll see more of the youthful side of Cloud rather than the always-serious one we’ve seen more outside of the original game.

The four screenshots also showed other members of AVALANCHE, and one fan described Biggs as “super handsome,” Wege as “refreshingly chubby,” and Jessie as “cute!”

Unfortunately for the rest of us, since the images were shown only behind closed doors, those who attended mentioned that Square Enix won’t be sharing the screenshots to the public for a while.

Dorky Cloud? I like the sound of that. :)

Oh sod off you haven't shown anything in ages

Heh, last night I posted that they were teasing about maybe showing something but I wasn't going to get all hyped up about it because every time I do get stupidly excited, they go and show nothing. And this one time I side-eye them and lol at their attempt at garnering hype, they come along and actually show something -_-

Typical :monster:

I hope they really don't keep the images to themselves/Japan for too long. The rest of the world is getting pretty impatient :P

Music to my ears.

I'm surprised they've changed Cloud's design. There's already a Play Arts Kai figure of his old Remake attire. Guess I'll just have to buy the re-release too :wacky:

And what's up with closed events again? Do other companies do this?

So depending on how redesigned the characters are...that might make the PlayArts Kai release of Cloud and Barret inaccurate.

Which, unless they retool and re-release them to match the redesigned look... will annoy me immensely (yes, I'd be more annoyed with an inaccurate depiction than buying the same character twice).

So how exactly should a "dorky" Cloud look like? I mean are they just changing his physical appearance or is it more the overall art style of the game?

Basically even if Cloud looks super cool and together, they're still keeping in mind that he's still kind of a kid and a goober in VII, and they apparently don't want to change that in the remake. That's the gist of what the comment was.

Sounds like he basically got a much prettier face. I do find it interesting that ever since 2017 started, all the media that's come out has avoided most of Cloud's face. Admitedly it's two screen shots and key art, but it's kind stark how differently Cloud's hair and body type really are in that, and how his face is intentionally turned out of view.

I'm pretty sure they decided to work on a new face as early as that art's conception. Meaning they've likely been working on these changes for a year and a half.
