Although, to be honest, I thought the English analogue was either called Basic or Standard...

Nice to see a bit of confusion regarding the currency. In Damascus, the currency is called Damasks. The smaller denominations are called cents (because, out of a hundred, it does make more sense than pence - and you have no idea how much it pains me to say that).

The official language of Damascus is a particular dialect of Artolian that's no longer used in Artolia. There used to be a Damascan language, but it gradually fell out of use (too complicated to go into here - I'm going to make an amendment to the wikia article covering the facts and figures). There is however a Neo-Damascan language, an attempt to create a Damascan language from scratch. It never really took off, but Volsung operatives still use it occasionally.

(This covers for my lack of bilingual talent, while Neo-Damascan will be represented by Al Bhed. )

On the subject of languages.

Because I haven't had the drive to do any proper work so procrastinate thinking about stuff like this

There wouldn't be anything set for Kurban, Thrail or Paravin (see tiny little map I edited in Paint), would there? I was thinking the people who settled on Berena would have come from there, but that if that's the case they might as well share the language so I didn't do this just for one tiny little location. I was thinking either Kurban (for the location) or Paravin (the name fits in better with how the language is forming). Though if I remember right, the names of the other countries that haven't featured in the story so far weren't definite/final? In which case I'd like to make it Kurban and if that name sticks then just say that's the Basic name for it and the inhabitants call it something different.

On Kurban, there's nothing set for it AFAIK tho just note that Eve is from there so if you do anything with it just make sure nothing contradicts her bio history.

Totally freaked out earlier - I decided a while ago that the chemical compound used to create a stable bond between the human and animal DNA in an Animus was going to be referred to as a "chimaeric agent". But I couldn't work out what to call it (hence my question months back about whether the name Circe was in use).

So, I put "chimera" into wikipedia earlier, to try and find a name to use, and... well...

There's some real world science that could be extrapolated into the creation of the Animus. O.O
