To my knowledge, Kris, they literally split RIGHT after the mansion. I don't think these details have been ironed out but to me it was always that Fiona pulped Kerr, Kerr voiced his idea, and then they split then and there.
Also I checked over the kerrfiona post again and this is now written in the bottom but I'll put it here too: you realize that out of the entire original group of Thetis, Fiona, Telran, Nova, Kaden, Castiel, Kerr, Idris, Lokka, Jettison, Stolz and Emma, we've lost a lot of numbers: Telran is out cold, and Terra is dragging him to the group some ways away. Idris and Lokka (and Castiel) are doing much the same, and can't show up until after the Fiona flip-out starts. Kaden flew the coop, and Thetis is quite obviously gone.
So the group we are left with is Fiona, Nova, Kerr, Jettison, Stolz and Emma. And although I'm not sure on this, I think Jettison is also unconscious(?). That's not a very large group to work with.
So my suggestion is to slot in Terra's return with Telran, and to have everyone fuss over her and to have Emma wake up to Terra being able to walk and talk pseudo-properly again and so on, and to have the big tearful HOORAY and THEN to have Kerr come and spoil it all with the Thetis thing. It's got more impact, it gives the group something to talk about before getting interrupted, and it gives us one more character to play around with in the whole exchange, that being Terra.
