in regards to the cxa forums i disliked it there because you could only ship one variety of clerith, if you will. you can't really ship it like aigis/minato from persona 3 (for those that don't know those guys, minato dies and aigis decides to do her best to protect his memory, cherishing him all the while). they only seem to care if you voice views that are like 'hey i do not think cloud and aerith have happycuddles and can visit each other ALL THE TIME because i think she has sort of an important job with watching over the lifestream' because that seems to disagree with their view of the ship.

Thank you, I now see how wrong it was for me to say that maybe talking badly about a Clerith forum, and saying inaccurate information about said forum, in a Clerith club where we're trying to welcome our new members who are from that forum was a bad thing. My bad everyone.

Not sure how you got that idea, Feferi. That's certainly not MY idea of CloudxAerith, and I'm the head admin of that forum. I do think they can visit each other whenever they want (especially since Nomura said that Aerith lives on inside of Cloud). But does that mean that everything's happycuddles for them all the time? No. Is any relationship happycuddles all the time?

I don't think Aerith has a bunch of responsibilities in the Lifestream. I think she and other Cetra get asked for help at times from the Planet, for example, when Aerith asked the other spirits to help fend off Meteor. But I don't think she has daily stuff that she's responsible for, either.

KAY so I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I saw this today and found it adorable:

I don't think Aerith has a bunch of responsibilities in the Lifestream.

I kinda disagree with this. Aerith exists in every part of the world according to Nomura (iirc) and she is in a way like Mother nature guarding and protecting the planet. True she called upon other souls (if you're using Maiden as a source, idk if it says that she does that anywhere else but if you are using it she also realizes her duty to the planet in that work), but I don't think that makes her responsibilities lessen. She's the one that sent down her holy rain, the one that protected the planet beforehand (before AC) so I'd say she has a very strong and prominent role and in a way she exists within the planet. It's her job to keep it safe so it's a pretty big deal. x'D

Yes, the same thing happens in the game:

(The Highwind continues to circle. The camera shifts to show Cid working frantically at the control panel, then to show Cloud sitting on the railing in front of the window, his back to the destruction outside, as Tifa continues to watch fearfully. Cloud looks at her. The camera moves to show her face. Her eyes widen in surprise.) What's that!? (The camera shifts to show a sky view of a remote, mountainous area of the eastern continent. A tiny pinprick of green light is visible in one dark moor. The camera shifts down to ground level. The green light grows and one bright tendril of the Lifestream worms its way out from the ground. A large hole opens in the ground around the stream, revealing the Lifestream boiling just below the surface, one thread escaping into the air.) (The camera shifts to another location in the mountains. Another strand of the Lifestream is emanating from the ground curving gracefully in Midgar's direction. It shifts again. Two more. They grow. Many strands of Lifestream move Meteor, not just one. That means that many spirits of the Lifestream help Aerith move Meteor. Aerith doesn't do it on her own.

But Aerith isn't the only Cetra working alone. There are other Cetra in the Lifestream. We know that because of several things. 1) Aerith says that she still talks to her mother, Ifalna. 2) Cetra spirits are guarding the Temple of the Ancients.


(Cloud arrives at the Temple of the Ancients. Aerith stands on the rope bridge before it, then falls to the ground.) Aerith "This is... the Temple of the Ancients..." "I... I know... I feel it... the knowledge of the Ancients.. floating..." "You could become one with the Planet, but you're stopping it with the strength of will." "For the future? For us?" (Cloud runs over and kneels by her.) Cloud "What are you saying? Do you understand?" (Aerith gets up and runs further into the Temple, stopping to stand on the stairs leading to the top.) Aerith "You're uneasy... But happy?" (She looks around at nothing) Aerith "Because I'm here? I'm sorry... I don't understand."

Right there, she's speaking with other Cetra spirits who are guarding the Temple. So other Cetra spirits are still in the Lifestream. It's been hundreds of years since they died, but they haven't joined the Planet yet because they're guarding the Temple.

How many are there? We don't know for sure, but there's more than one. We learn that from Aerith later on in the Temple of Ancients:

Cloud navigates the maze. There is a little rabbit-like creature, the Lagomorph from Final Fantasy 6, that he chases until he eventually catches it in a small room.) "nyum... nyum..." Aerith "Phew! We finally caught up to you." "I'm sorry. You waited for me." "Those are the spirit bodies of the Ancients." "They've been away from their Planet for a long time to protect this Temple." "Over the many years, they've lost the ability to talk." "Actually, they didn't need words from the beginning because there was only one objective for those left in the Temple."

So there's other Cetra to help her. It's not like she's the only one.

OMG MY ASKAERITH BLOG IS TURNING SO CLERITH RIGHT NOW. It's really weird, but roleplays make me like a pairing more... *u*

Aerith doesn't do it on her own.

Well I never meant to suggest that Aerith does things all on her own. I just think she's still a powerful being on her own and still has responsibilities in the Lifestream/Planet. I don't think she's just sitting up there chilling out. Like Zack who was just a regular spirit that had to awaken.... Aerith was always awake. I like how Maiden portrays when she first dies, and how she meets different spirits and realizes her duties despite how she wants to live on earth with Cloud and the others. Even without the words of Maiden (since I don't consider it canon I won't continue to use it but that's a whole different discussion that's really suited for the LTD thread xD) there are things in the Ultimanias that suggest Aerith's being is a strong presence. It's just that I don't think she just sits in the Lifestream and watches the world on HDTV.

And I do agree that most fanfic is awful. But it seems that Clerith fanfics are more asstastic than the rest. I mean, if I wade through enough shit, I can usually find a fanfic that's worth reading. But I've never actually read a good Clerith fic. Ever.

I read a really heartwarming Clerith fic a really long time ago and I wish I could find it again because it was so sad. :c It was Cloud and spirit!Aerith but the fic described how Cloud was holding her and how empty it felt and BAAAAW all my creys if only I could remember the name of it.

I've actually read quite a number of good Clerith fic? I found them easier to come by than Cloti ones idk.

I just generally don't like reading Cloti fic I guess. I find most authors can't really capture what I like about the couple properly.

I used to look on LJ for more quality fic. I haven't been reading fanfic for a long time so I can't say I know which direction to point you in anymore though
