I'd argue Buffy and co were right at the tail end of campy 24 episode TV series, so some transition stuff is to be expected.

It's not as bad as Xena anyway :awesome:

Campy 24 episode TV shows continue to this day so idk what you're on about *shrug*. Supernatural is in its 13th season with no signs of stopping soon.

Wait, what allegations about Joss Whedon did I miss? Google isn't giving me anything.

I think people are referring to the statement from his wife, which certainly paints an ugly picture. It's not Harvey Weinstein material, but it's also not as simple as "ex is angry", and I have seen people trying to rationalise it as such.

To be honest I've been rewatching Buffy and there's a lot in it that's surprisingly misogynistic considering what the show is supposed to represent. Mainly Xander. The character is of course intentionally written that way but when you consider that Joss is on record multiple times basically saying that Xander is Joss it starts to become slightly disturbing - it feels more than just "Xander is an immature dick". Joss is clearly a guy who at that time really did his best to challenge some stereotypes but also grapples with... well, being a closet misogynist. And it's one of these things that's hard to talk about because once upon a time I was that fan that idolised him - I still think he's a phenomenal TV writer - but laid bare, it's very interesting.

Another point I forgot to mention, this also means that the original Star Wars films are all fully back under one roof. If there were previously any difficulties with re-releasing the films etc, those are all gone now. It'll be interesting to see if we have any big, updated box set releases or anything like that – especially after IX comes out.

I read a headline the other day that the Star Wars movies won't be coming to Disney's own streaming service until 2024, because Turner (?) bought the broadcasting rights and aren't selling them back. :monster:

I'll have to admin, I was actually a little bit surprised. :monster:

Even in the world of the comics, the X-Men are more often removed from other things than they are integrated with them, so they very much could've pulled off having them managed a bit more on their own. That being said, I'm expecting that we'll see more Mutants on TV, because they just lend themselves a lot more easily to that medium. I'm curious how thing like that are gonna go down, and if we'll see crossovers between things like Agents of Shield or not once it all gets properly spun up.

At this point, I'm it's starting to feel like the solution to The Snap might end up being tied in to all of that getting reconsolidated.

Because I really don't like the idea of a media singularity, which seems to be Disney's goal. I prefer competition, with more films than fewer films out on the market.

Before I would have said that Disney is capable of buying up companies and just letting them still be their own thing, but Disney's influences on Marvel clearly show that they're not happy with just treating these new acquisitions the same as they would treat a subsidiary like Touchstone.

Wipe the deck clean. Disney's just going to get more and more commercialized anyways, canceling original features in favor of these live action remakes anyways. They already went ahead and canceled Gigantic, and they have nothing in the pipeline that isn't a sequel or remake as fa as I know.
