I never know what to say to that battle model, because apart from people on the board making me stare at it, I could look over it a million times (and probably have, playing the game and all) and just dismissed her eyes as brown. A deep brown to be sure, like mahogany. But you are the artist, so what do I know.
It is odd that the color changes from one appearance to the next.

In her itadaki street special appearence, they're brown, right?

And Ryu, the thing with Mako eyes just glowing when special abilities are being tapped into/when the SOLDIER wants them to is all well and good. But the problem is that the game made it very apparent that they're ALWAYS glowing. To the extent that people who know about SOLDIER eyes could immediately identify you as one. Eyes just glowing during a limit break or something isn't really anything special, I could picture that happening to anyone using a limit break/casting a spell.

Also, don't see how anyone can mistake that for brown. In that picture I posted they're a little more dark than they usually are ingame, but that's most definitely still red.

Also, when would be an appropriate time for Mako eyes to glow?

They only look hazel on the bottom, which is where anime eyes always seem to lighten (hell, in her FF7 battle model they're black lightening into that reddish color), but the top is definitely brown.

Oh look, in KH2 THEY'RE RED. Hair color is back to being an obvious brown too.

I wouldn't have even noticed that they were red in the BC art if mako hadn't pointed it out to me.

Not to mood or anything like that, Dac. Biological factors can shift the coloration of your eye a bit, especially if you have a mottled eye pattern to begin with and certain colored cells expand and contract.

As for 'always glowing', in CC you can still (apparently) tell that SOLDIER eyes always glow, since Zack points to his for Aerith which explains how she can recognize them later. What I figure is that it's not constantly at full bore. So it might be glowing, but it's not incandescent, and only has a few lumens at any one time. Like a Firefly during the daytime, it's not so noticable, exept when the SOLDIER or other person has a flare up.

lol, maybe I am colorblind. Because I still don't look at those eyes (KH2) and think "red." Red eyes I'm thinking Vincent or KOS-MOS. They certainly aren't brown like her hair, but there's definitely some brown in there. (Reddish brown? Rust? I don't know, lol)

You are right about how her hair jumps around. In her menu icon in VII its damn near light brown, and in AC her hair is just like mine (appears black but in bright light is brown).

Regardless of the exact name for the color of her eyes, you're right that the color definitely changes from appearance to appearance - and that is odd.

(And Zack's eyes are particularly striking in that scene with Aerith, Ryu. The rest of the game, not so much. The only time Cloud's eyes have glowed yet is when he's about to gut Bahamut in AC/C. And their KH appearances don't help because EVERYONE'S eyes are bright as shit in those games.)

Well, some people do have difficulty recognizing colors due to the way their eyes interpret them.

Yeah but in FF7 people noticed Cloud's all the time, and from farther away.

Cloud was exposed to a lot of Mako and using a lot of spirit energy during 7, that might explain it.

As for the second circle in the eyes, it's a common enough aestetic touch, and it does have a basis in actual eye construction, since there is a common 'circle' in real eyes.

Tifa's eyes are definitely red in FFVII, BC, and KH2. Don't know why they can't seem to make up their minds in terms of whether or not she has red eyes or brown/hazel.

Ah well. At least the game's still looking good.

Some woods are red, or at least very red-ish. Tifa's FF7 eyes in FF7 are right on the border of red and brown, depending on the light. Vin's are definitely a lot redder.

I do think the color's been alterred, but my memory is nagging at me that it's faded rather than filtered color wise. We should see if we can find an unaltered version.

I was referring to the fake lighting they used in shading her. Parts of it are very red, but the top of her eyes in the model are very brown.
In FMVs I think they're pretty universally red.

I know this might come a bit unrelated, but my eyes do change in between hazel-ish and green-ish, depending on the lighting. Maybe the mood, as it has been mentioned before? I wouldn't dare confirming that. What I'm sure of, though, is that they do change. So if my eyes go from hazel to dark brown or green-ish, why couldn't Tifa's (in Dissidia, that is) change from red-ish to hazel-ish?

To be honest, I always thought they tried to give the compilation a realistic look, so whenever they use 3D they'd try to make her look realistic, and red eyes certainly do not, at least by real life standards, whereas in artworks and that stuff, they would give her the red eyes we all know and love. I always thought it was a stylistic matter, and did not give much more thought about it.

Now, to be honest, however, it would bother me if they weren't red in Dissidia, where admittedly, "realism" of looks is no that much of an issue as it can be in FFVII AC(C).
