A followup would be stupid unless it took place in between the alien's arrival and the events of District 9. Because like said before, everything that could possibly precede District 9 would be easily predictable, unless a humongo amazing overhaul twist thing happened.

I'm hoping they'll just leave this one alone. Please don't make a sequel, for once. Please?

Even worse, what would the sequel be called?
District 10? District 9 - 2?
Ok, I'm exaggerating since they maybe could just give it a subtitle. (I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will see it)

The movie ended where it needed to and I don't give a shit how ambiguous it was. They DON'T need to make a sequel. Leave it up to the audiences imagination, just don't ruin the film because you wanna make more monies. >_>

I wouldn't mind a sequel if Blokamp and Jackson did it.

There's still a lot more potential for amazing story telling.

Yeah, there is, as long as he and Jackson are in it, it's all I'm waiting for. But if anyone else, we can just forget it.

This is like saying, 'let's give Final Fantasy VII a sequel. No, wait, let's give it 8 sequels and a few prequels while we're at it.'

It doesn't need one.

I loled

To me it doesn't need a sequel.. and I know I've said this a few times but... it's obvious what's going to happen. But I mean I guess if they really wanna show what's obvious sure... it only took 30 million to make this movie, the sequel will probably cost even less.

But how can you be so sure there will be one Mako?

The director said so in an interview that he's eager to make a sequel and its in the works due to how well received the movie was.

If you don't want a movie to have a sequel nowadays, you might as well not see the original because that's just what happens. Bitching about it is like denying reality. Sequels are not inherently scary or "ebil."

No, it's not.

And of course it doesn't need one, we didn't need this film in the first place, but I'd welcome an expanded and more developed story from the folks who envisioned it.

Complaining about a sequel before it even exists is kinda silly.

Actually yeah, I did hear Return of Jafar was pretty good for a Disney sequel... but wasn't there a third one that was awful?

I'm actually not denying it. I know they're planning a sequel. What I am saying is, in my opinion, that it does not need one. End of story.

(Though it's probably still going to happen)

I saw this movie 2 days after it came out but I'm finally gonna post on it LOL. My god... this movie was just amazingly realistic and... incredibly upsetting and heartwrenching, imho. I love how the story was played out and it just highlighted the very plot of the aliens. I was really touched and hurt inside by how the events played out and I cried even...

I'll never forget that scene where
Christopher looks at the dead and skinned body of another of his kind. The emotion in that just tore my heart apart and then even more when he just stood there through all the shooting going on in the back T_T.

Another scene I loved is when
Christopher was talking to his son about the new District they were moving to and his boy got upset, saying he wanted to go home... was a sort of pivotal moment for something Wikus had witnessed.

I seriously loved how they displayed the concepts of segregation and almost slavery-like realism and I really loved this movie overall. I actually liked the ending as it were,
Wikus, now fully transformed, is still waiting for Christopher's return to make him human again, for he awaits the day to be with his wife again.

I highly recommmend 'District 9' for anyone looking for a serious, realistic and pivotal story ^_^. Anyone expecting this movie to be extremely campy will be SORELY mistaken and disappointed.

Props really go to the character modelers and animators.

I mean, it takes some skill to convey almost the entirety of a creatures emotions with its eyes.

I mean, really impressive stuff.

As everyone else has already pretty much said, this movie is awesome. The plot line, the uniqueness of the concept itself, the characterization, all of that was just so refreshing and well thought out. I'm hoping that they'll make a sequel just to expand upon the universe of D-9 plus it would be nice to see how things with dear Wikus turn out.
