I posed this question in the Staff section (so yes, we are thinking about it), but do you guys as the members have any ideas and suggestions towards getting new people in here and getting the word out? I'm with Dacon in that I totally want 'new people' to be narrowed down to 'new people who are here for Final Fantasy'. And no, the whole 'there aren't any of those people left' argument doesn't count because there are hundreds of thousands of active FF/FFVII fans out there.

We want to hear how to get them here. Go.

Anyway, while I obviously agree that the main draw of the site is what we should hope more people come for and strive to get more people to come for, if some happen to come for another reason, it's kind of ... what's the word ... stupid(?) to all but turn them out on that basis.

It's one thing to wish they came for a different reason, but to make a stink over the fact is -- in my mind -- absurd.

As Force mentioned, getting them in here for something like an RP might draw their attention to another section. They might then mention the place to other people they know because of that.

I'm not saying rely on them for one's primary source of marketing the site, but I am saying you don't shit on your Social Security checks simply because you have a much bigger pension that also comes in.

Okay, I'm sorry that I dicked around in that guy's RP thread... but I don't think we'd even want a type of member who has such an ego about his RP, and then makes fun of the Dessie one you guys have. It's really well done and I enjoy reading it, and this dude can't even spell things correctly. Sure, I should have kept my nose out of it, but my tolerance level for BS is kind of on the edge... like close to zero.

So... like, I think if anyone wants to join a Forum online, they should at least know the basics. Being able to form a sentence without making someone's eyes bleed could be a good start. Then again, maybe I'm just too damn picky about that kind of thing. I know people come from different countries, and do know a certain language- that I can understand. But when you're perfectly capable of forming sentences, just choose not to... that's lazy and annoying. I mean, every time I see this:

Why would my reaction to Shitkaro's people be any different than it was to him, when he behaved in such a way? People judge others based off the people they run with initially. They might be nice folks, but I don't give a shit. They were brought here thanks to him and his RP bullshit, and that ensures less than a warm welcome.

I don't remember flaming anyone, I only expressed my displeasure at someone else having joined for a goddamn RP(of course the post was deleted thanks to faggots, but hurr I'm sure none of those mods ever made posts in welcome threads that weren't just welcoming amirite? hypocrisy is fucking fun). The others may have got out of line a bit, but it wouldn't have gotten to that point to begin with if someone had done something about this shit at the start.

The fact of the matter is these chumps should have stepped in when shitkaro was being a dick and shut this shit down to begin with before anyone else got involved, but instead it went on and on, until someone finally stumbled online to do something, when the damage had already been done, and grudges had developed.

Speak for yourself. I only ever started posting on ACF because of the spam section, but wound up posting quite a bit in the other sections (including the FF sections) once I had begun posting regularly.
