I just watched Victory of the Daleks last night. I thought it was pretty good... except for
the whole "you can't blow up, despite being a bomb, because you think and feel like a human!"

Maybe I'm missing something... but, doesn't that kind of go against logic? :awesomonster:

Dalek episode was awesome - glad to see the old look Daleks back. I'm very pleased with the Moffat/Smith season so far. :)

I want to see the return of the Valeyard at some point... But I'm REALLY looking forward to the Neil Gaiman ep next season! :awesome:

Does everyone else find really hard to not blink while the Weeping Angels are on? I try my best, but I always... blink.

I think my favourite throw away line in the story was
the Doctor always leaves the brakes on the TARDIS while landing it, which is why it makes its distinctive sound

Interestingly, it doesn't really start making that noise, or any noise for that matter, until the second year of the show's run.
It took til the 10th year for the formal 'landing noise' as it is now to make its appearance.

You'd think that, after a while, the Doctor would realize he left the brakes on.

I have a theory for this. It's possible that as a Time Lord advances through a regeneration, they begin to suffer symptoms similar to humans with alzheimer's. It's quite possible that the First Doctor began to forget to remove the brakes.

When he regenerated, his second incarnation, who was rather eccentric, decided he quite liked the sound, and so would do it deliberately.

However, due to the regeneration trauma he began to suffer from after his forced regeneration into his third incarnation, he forgot that way wasn't how you were supposed to land the TARDIS. And so, from then on, he always left the brakes on.

Of course, at whatever point he meets River Song, he knows that he does that, so he teaches her the standard way to land a TARDIS, so that she will remind his younger self that he does it! :)

Vampires of Venice... well, I was hooked. So much so, I missed being called for my tea. XD

Classic Who storyline, the Doctor
has to decide between maintaining the status quo (humanity) or saving the last few members of a dying race. The first Who story I'm aware of to deal with this - or at least, the fact that the Doctor had to decide, and it wasn't a black-and-white decision - was, ha, the original Silurians story. It's going to be interesting seeing how the upcoming Silurian two-parter follows on from this.

Anyone watch Vincent and The Doctor yet?

I just have to say that I loved it. The whole thing was
so emotional, so heartbreaking, and so wonderful. I don't think that I've liked an episode this much for a really long time. Tony Curran did a fantastic job as Vincent van Gogh. I think that he really stole the show.

What did everyone else think of it?

Yes, I saw Vincent and the Doctor. I really loved it, Bill Nighy's curator/guide was great, too. :)

And I have to say, Tony Curran looked a bit like an older version of myself. :awesome:

I was crying from
The Doctor and Amy taking Vincent to the museum
to the very end.

The calibre of 'guest stars' in Dr Who is going up and up - have you all noticed? Americans might not always get how famous some of these people are. And the guest writers!! I'm sure everyone knows Neil Gaiman is penning an episode. Can't wait.

Dude, I made a thread on it. :P

Dream King to write Who episode

Of course, it's worth noting that both Joss Whedon and Stephen Fry have expressed interest in writing a script for the series since RTD brought it back. Combined with Neil Gaiman's script, that would be awesome. :D

I just caught up on Season 5 (in the US anyways) as it airs on BBC America, The Hungry Earth is this Saturday, so I don't believe that Vincent & The Doctor has aired here yet - looking forward to it from the comments here.
