Does FFVII have the most insane enemy names ever?

We know that a lot of FF monsters are named after play on words or even pop references, but I don't know what the hell went on with FFVII.

Just to list a few from the bestiary:

Allemagne (Flying cyclops)
Christopher (Why is he called Christopher!?)
Chuse Tank (A seahorse - 'Choose Tank' perhaps? idk)
Gagighandi (Lizard creature)
Ghirofelgo (Half-man, half...pendulum...anchor?)
Kelzmelzer (Like a mutated stag beetle)
Kyuvilduns (A kinda land-mosquito creature)
Lessaloploth (A wyvern)
Madouge (Pink monster with a ball n' chain)
Nerosuferoth (Another kind of lizard creature)
Pollensalta (The siren)
Poodler (A mollusc)
Rilfsak (A leaf)

Good luck to anyone who can decipher some of them. It sounds like a lot of them were put in a word scrambler, or perhaps a combination of Engrish and poor localization?

No most of them have those names in Japanese.

I love FFVII's monsters the most in Final Fantasy (with FFV and VI) being right up there because they're so varied and random. Yes, they're so insane.

Christopher is just some weird clown asshole with a pet pink horse in the Northern Cave. I love it. XD

Okay, I get most of those names, but why put the most normal name (Christopher) ever to exist on the face of the planet as a frickin' humanoid clown thingy with... uh, strange thingies sprouting out of his head and other thingies around other thingies ... why put it as a monster name in the first place?

I wanna see a monster named Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious that can kick your ass as soon as you enter the battle... with an umbrella.

Makoeyes - Yeah, there's certainly a lot of variety there, but then I guess anyone could design a bunch of whacky random monsters and throw 'em in there. Still, fun fun. I quite like FFX's bestiary. Even if there wasn't much variety, they felt like monsters.

Allemagne is a French term for Germany, but that's all I could find.

Most of FFVII's names were probably due to terrible localization. Midgar Zolom and all that.

Midgar Zolom was really, REALLY crappy localization - was likely supposed to be the Midgardsorm, which is more commonly recognized as Jormungand, the World Serpent.

Good ol' Norse mythology.

I found out the other day that Vagyrisk Claw is more likely Basilisk Claw, so I wouldn't put localisation mistakes past them

I quite like FFX's bestiary. Even if there wasn't much variety, they felt like monsters.

Same here. I liked how each character had their certain type of monster that they could easily damage. My favorite instance of that, would be Rikku pulling the Machina apart into pieces.

I've seen much weirder enemy names...The Legend of Spyro has some pretty odd ones, they randomly give first and last names to the enemies. Heck, I even remember some dude on there called "Bartholemue the Stinky"

They'd go for AHRIEMANURUZU or something if they intended Ahriman.

Well, the romanization of Ahriman would be somewhat close enough for some sub-par translators to mistake it as "Allemagne" (especially if they don't know how to properly pronounce the word "allemagne" anyway ).
And also, all the other enemies of the same type in subsequent FF games are usually called Ahriman as well.
