Nobody expects the Inquisition!

Sorry had to do that.

But I am half excited for the game because I love the Dragon Age, but I am sorta half dreading it because some of the news I heard.
Like

  • Customization is going to be bigger than Dragon age Origins. Follower customization will be deep.
  • You will play a Human character.
(source tumblr)
Yeah that kinda ticked off some players...

Also the endings that I been getting with Bioware and personally not excited about the game taking place in Orlais (Ferleden chick over here)

I'll actually try and pull more info about it if anything else comes up but personally at the moment I am excited for this

I guess they're going with the ME formula in which you're playing as a specific character just like what DE2 did. I understand why they would do it but I also understand why some people are ticked off about it.

I'm loving that the game will be set in Orlais, it seems to me like a far more interesting place than Ferelden, plus bigger and Val Royeaux, I'm dying to see Val Royeaux.

Yes please Morrigan, I need more Claudia Black in my life.

Orlais is just Dragon Age's version of France

I mean I like it, but it's nothing amazing

Also eh I haven't played as anything other than a human since Origins so I'm not all that fussed about the humans-only thing, really. :monster: Level design is something I'm more interested in, as the majority of levels in the previous games were honestly kinda boring as shit. DAII suffered from copy-and-paste garbage stemming from lack of production time, and DA: Origins wasn't a whole lot better imo.

Also DAII was really really small in scope, it wouldn't be hard for them to beat it in size. :awesome:

You don't think a place you haven't seen yet is amazing Satsu? :monster:

I've been playing as a human since Origins as well. I did the other origin stories to get the trophies and it proved why I prefer to be a human.

I suspect Bioware's intention of size might be the open world to explore like Skyrim.

There's a chock-ton of Orlais "culture" that's been discussed over the course of the games and I'm not impressed. :monster:

Also, you know, there was that guy from the DAII DLC and his gigantic castle so eh

I doubt Bioware are into the business of sandbox. Chances are that maybe they're just putting in less loading screens :awesome:

Satsu that is in no way the same thing as actually seeing Orlais and Val Royeaux.

They might jump at the chance for more money.

I know it's not you butt, I'm just saying that they hype they generate for that place hasn't worked on me

Also, if Bethesda development times are any indication (years and years, brah) Bioware simply wouldn't have the time to put in the complexity of a sandbox before their release date target.
Don't get me wrong, I think an open-world Dragon Age would be the bomb, but Bioware's level design has always given me the impression of a small-scale conflict placed on a skybox, trying to fool us that a larger-scale fight is going on around the player.

At least, that's what I was getting from Origins. II didn't have that issue imo as the scale was small in the first place. :monster:
But who knows, it's Frostbite 2! they very much could have a sandbox. I'm just worried that it'll end up being the same copy-paste dealio.

Also I'll have to end up upgrading from XP ;-;

You should've upgraded from XP already Satsu you dummy.

When money is involved it could happen, in the end I just want a good game. I love the DA series.

News about DA3:

-Cullen will be in the game, apparently as a party member. Really Bioware?

-Cassandra is likely to be a party member as well. Crossing fingers she's also a possible LI.

-It seems there will a Grey Warden party member, who they are is not known yet and so we have a legitimate use of the line "LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE!". :monster:

-Like ME3, DA3 will also use both male and female PCs for promotional material and it only took them 5 games to make that happen.

-Bioware has said the game will be influenced by Skyrim.

-There are rumors that the game will be pushed back till 2014 for the next gen consoles.

-Also this happened.

I have mixed feeling about DA3.
I'm just tired of seeing wasted potential & feeling disappointed with Bioware games. :sigh:

Replaying Dragon Age 1 for now. ^_^

Well at least it seems like Bioware is taking steps into fixing problems and listening to fan feedback, of course the fiasco with ME3 they kind of have to.

More news:

- Another slight design change in the elves.

- You will not be able to randomly kill your companions.

- Leliana’s appearance in DA2 will be explained in DA3, especially if she was killed in Origins.

- During the start of the game, the protagonist will establish his relationship to the titular Inquisition.

- In addition to the dialogue wheel, a “reaction wheel” is going to be used for when an emotional reaction is needed.

- Rivalry/Friendship system won’t be returning as it was. Supposedly, it wont enable/prevent conversations from occurring.

- Romance options and companions are already set in stone.

A few bits of new info:

- BioWare mentioned that the main plot will be “saving the world from itself”. It will involve war between mages and templars. Along with the larger size of the game map, the player will be able to travel to countries such as Tevinter to calm or encourage the fighting. Other places likely to be visited visit: Nevarra, Ferelden and Free Marches.

- There will be new kinds of demons. David Gaider says: “We’ve actually discussed new types of demons— despair, in fact, being one of them. You should see at least one new major type of demon in DA3”.

- During The Spring Review Day 4, BioWare said that one of the Dragon Age III character will be a challenge for cosplay fans.

- There will be many new characters but we will see some old friends

- No Dragon Age 3 Information will be shared at PAX East. -_-

i'm happy about the elf tweak. on the one hand, i was glad they made the elves look distinct, but it also made them look disturbingly childlike and...weird.

well i spotted the token squadmate/companion i shove into a corner and never talk to. there's always gotta be one.

Pretty much yeah. KoTOR had Carth, DA: O had Alistair, DA2 had Anders and Sebastian, Me1 had Kaidan, ME2 had Jacob. Welcome to the club Cullen!

Carver who's he? Oh that's right he got killed by an ogre. Yeah I forgot about Nathaniel, he was so annoying and fucking stupid, how could not see that his dad was evil?

Cassandra <3

Fun fact: I've ignored most of the Dragon Age DLC packs bar the ones I got from pre-order. None of the extemporaneous companions have interested me lol, although I do remember seeing playthroughs with Shale and seeing how much of a hoot she was to have around.

I actually enjoyed the approval system in II over the one in Origins (where you could be a jerk to your companions for several hours of questing and make it up to them by instantaneously bombarding them with gifts lolol), and bar the lol-goofs towards the end of the story I feel they really refined the companions and the choice-and-consequences leading up to the endgame.

Also off-topic I liked Carth back when I played the game presumably because he had interesting, unresolved backstory even though yes he was a bit of a holier-than-thou tight-arse :monster:

Shale is the shit satsu, a playthrough without her is incomplete. Now lets go kill some pigeons.

I preferred the apporvel system in Origins over the friendship/rivalry system in DA2 but I'm fine with both because I can be a dick when I feel like it without any trouble. Like I get to call Alistair a moron whenever I feel like. :monster:

I just thought that there was more method to the madness in 2's conversation outcomes. :monster:

Also lol Alistair can go eat a dick. Or a sword, since
during the events of DAII he seemed pretty eager for either/or/both

When is DA3 out?

I played & completed DA2 once and traded it in pretty quickly, I reasoned I'd get the complete/ultimate/game of the year edition with all the DLC and bugs / reused locations fixed. But a 'complete' edition got cancelled due to lack of interest and poor reviews.

Does anyone think it would be worth buying a cheap second hand DA2?
I never played any of the DLC, is the DLC for DA2 worth playing?

They're ok, if you can get it cheap is worth buying.

Bioware hasn't give a release date yet, atm they say is coming out late this year.
