...lack of shiny graphics
i guess i could emulate it, but i hate playing games on my computer. if im on the computer 9 times out of 10 i want to be doing something else besides playing a game. and i dont have a ps1/2 to play it on, and acquiring it is apparently expensive these days.
Playstation Network, FFVII for 8 bucks, play it on your PS3.
Don't be like those n00b gamers who can't sit in front of an old game and play it cause they can't get behind graphics. C'mon. Please don't make me lose more faith in current gen gamers anymore.

Until Yoichi Wada somehow creates a flux capacitor and sticks it on the back of a Delorean, the original FFVII will always be good, and untainted by the Compilation and any current writers at Square. You can't change the past or the memory FFVII already has carved in people's minds. A remake could be fun, and might actually be good, even if its not the same thing. There's still hope for them to learn from the shit that's gone wrong so far. The Compilation hasn't be perfect but it hasn't been all bad either.
Hell, I didn't like the FFIV DS remake that much, but it was still fun and interesting in its own right. Square would literally have to pull an FFXIV or FFXIII hackjob in order to completely ruin the entire FFVII remake experience. Namely cutting, changing, and just making it something completely foreign.
not gonna lie, i haven't played the original, but i don't see how what is essentially a graphics update would take that long.. i understand that they would need to recode it for the new systems, etc, but that's no different from any other game and they sure as hell don't take decades to make.
