The French dialogue is a little odd, probably on par with the English one.

Cloud: Je ne peut aider personne... que soient mes familles, mes amis... personne.
Tife: nya-nya-nya N'importe quoi! C'est toujours (I'm not sure what this word is, I think it's "parer") avec toi.

Basically she's saying "Non-non-non-non-Nonsense!" The second part makes, I think she's saying something along the lines of "It's always warding off [people] with you." I mean the second half makes sense but...

Well Reno/the Turks were near them a lot during the journey so he's aware of Aerith's death, Zack's death, what these two people meant to him (comrades, best friends etc.) and obviously either through a briefing before the meeting with Rufus or simply by listening during, he would have picked up on what pulls on Cloud by what Rufus was saying, Cloud's reactions and so forth.

Regardless though, anyone over hearing that conversation would pick up that Cloud has baggage and Tifa wants him to drop it. Reno wouldn't have to even know what the baggage is in order to have that line.


#As for Dilly-dally. That was such a wtf line. If the German and French dubs were able to make some sense surely the English one could have. I wouldn't have minded if they'd stuck with "zuru-zuru".

I'm one of the few okay with the English line. At least the "dilly dally" part of it. "Shilly shally" doesn't do anything for me.

Still think something like "Dragging... dragging... Always dragging" would have been better, but it got the point across and they tied it well to the "Maybe I lost some weight" line later.

While on that subject does anyone know what the other dubs used there?


On the topic the thead was started for, I agree with everyone else that Reno could easily infer what Tifa wanted even if he didn't know the specific details - which themselves would have been simple to guess.

Reno and Rude have clearly been ordered by Rufus to spy on the poor, unsuspecting terrorists-turned-heroes. How else do you think they knew to find Cloud and Tifa in Aerith's church? And just how did they get keys to the Seventh Heaven?

Maybe behind the cocky act and stoic face, the pair is really quite intuitive.

Agreed. "Dilly dally, shilly shally" was an infinitely better choice than sticking with "zuru zuru."

Keeping "remnant" as "shinentai" would have made more sense, and I long ago begrudgingly accepted "remnant" as an okay decision. Still failed to convey the meaning to a lot of people, but it was better than "shinentai," which definitely wouldn't have.

It'd literally be Tifa making random sound effects to make a point in a serious conversation about Cloud's life and moving on. I'm sure people would love to see Tifa sound like a stark raving female with Tourrette's in the bedroom, but I personally don't.

She doesn't need to sound as nutty as Kefka in Dissidia, making "ZAPPO" and "BRRRUUUING" noises in order to tell Cloud to move on.

In the Spanish official dub:

Tifa: "No tienes remedio. ¡No tienes remedio!" (You are so hopeless. You are so hopeless!")
Reno: "¿No lo ves? ¡Quiere que espabiles, tío!" (Don't you see? She wants you to react, man!)

Seems like we Spanish also made sense of it
