I'm one of those guys who has to spell it "Lockheart" :(
Sorry everyone! Stupid me and the original game. I know it's wrong, and I'll try but sometimes I can't help it.

again, it probably isn't wrong. Or wasn't intended to be originally. I can't be sure until the writers say so. It is as correct as Heartily for FF8. The Japanese does not tell you difference between hart and heart, but I'd strongly suggest heart was intended.

I guess I'm going to bring back something old, but... in ACC, when it's time for Tifa to toss Cloud up, she says "Not yet!" or something like this. I always wondered what was that for. Not yet what? Not giving up? Tt didn't seem the case with Cloud fighting with bravado Bahamut back there. And there was a pause as they looked each other before she tosses him and says this. So, what did they communicate during this short pause and she said "Not yet!"?

Thoughts?

What language is that in? In the English language she says "No giving up!"

I've always been partial to Lockhart because it still carries the same connotations without hitting you over the head like Lockheart.

Oh look gaiz, there are secrets. Locked in her heart. See what I did there?

I like that one too, I like the ones of the family personally. I don't think there's enough out there.

I definitely didn't get this one at first, I thought Cloud and Tifa were freaking out over seeing two ghosts. Then I realized I'm an idiot...

And they're all good, but this one makes me laugh. All the shit that's happened to Cloud, and he looks more annoyed here than ever.

Finally, some shameless self-promotion. Here's a fanfic I wrote about the silly conversations Tifa mentions in Caase of Tifa. They aren't great, as I wrote them quickly, but I thought I'd share.

A video game in 4th grade taught me what love is.

A very clear, very succinct article about the Cloud x Tifa relationship, based solely on the original game. I thought it was very good.

It's a bit simplified (missing some of the poignant details of the relationship), but the point it makes is wonderful. The only problem with it is that someone that never played FFVII doesn't just automatically understand the significance of Tifa taking care of coma-Cloud and the real journey through the Lifestream sequence. It's more than just helping him put himself back together. It's realizing deeper emotions and truths about each other and themselves. And he missed out on the well-known line that would send his point home: "Words aren't the only way to tell someone how you feel".

I bet he played just the game, without any Compilation titles, then. And didn't care one bit about romance in that scene as well. Which, in my opinion, makes the Cloud x Tifa bond he describes even more powerful and strong. The whole story of "feelings realized" didn't strike me either until I read the Ultimania translations.

Maybe he didn't get the high-affection scene, either? :loopy:

To those of you who’ve guided me through the darkest hours of my life- thanks for being my Tifa.

I loved that last part.

What I got stuck on was this part: "But I still cried when Tifa helped Cloud figure out who he was in the lifestream, when she told him that she wanted to find the real him on the Gondola at the Gold Saucer."

Sounds like Aerith's and Tifa's dates got conflated. To be honest, I don't get why there was the little sidetrip into Aerith's death was about--to explain plot? But there's a lot of other plot that isn't detailed.

Aerith's existence/life/death is totally irrelevent to the point he was making. He could have put more emphasis on the fact that Tifa gave up the journey to stay with Cloud while he was comatose, or what really happened in the Lifestream. But his point was very nice.

As far as Tifa's date, yes he did confuse hers and Aerith's. Tifa's is fairly meh. She wants to say something but doesn't. No deeper insight into her character, or their relationship really, so it wasn't worth a mention.

Yeah, at first I thought he was bringing up Aerith to make a point later about the difference between her and Tifa's relationship with Cloud, so I was confused when that didn't happen. But the overall message is very sweet.
