I'm not the kind of person to display my interests with posters or paintings but man @Pandemonium's rendition of Cloud staring down Shinra HQ is something I would definitely appreciate having on display in my home.
Thanks! I used to be hesitant about sharing my art. I never felt like I was doing my best (I still feel that way) At this point, I don't give a f#ck anymore though haha. I'm actually working on a website to share all of my paintings and maybe sell. Once I get done with all of the ff7 main characters, I'm going to sell them as prints on canvas. $45 11x14

Sounds like a good idea, but are you sure you can legally do that? Sell the ff7 prints, I mean. Since SE owns FF7 and all, I wasn't sure how that would work and I don't want to you catching any flak from them about it. Companies can be wonky about that stuff sometimes, you know.

Copyright can be a problem, but I think Pandemonium will be okay. It seems to be an accepted thing that fan artists make money off their fan art. Look at crimson sun. Funny how the same doesn't go for fanfiction. I gues fanfic isn't as easy to monetise because it's not really an object. You can't put a fanfic on your shelf or hang it on your wall!

That makes sense, then, and that's good that they don't. It would just backfire on them if they did. Bad PR and all that. I'm glad SE knows better than that. Too bad fanfic doesn't get that same pass, as LA said.

I'm pretty sure Mo Gallagher is selling his FFVII fanfic. SE is Japanese and they have a different attitude to transformative works. IIRC they will crack down on fan-made games and movies, but they don't care about comics, fan-art and fan-fic.

Actually, from what I've seen on his Patreon page, he doesn't. He just gives instructions on how to order your own printed copy. Something I might look into for Lifestream at some point sooner or later if anyone's interested, especially since I'm nearing the end of Book One now.

Yes, I'm not saying he didn't. I know of a lot of Japanese fan artists and writers who monetise their comic books and novels and SE doesn't seem to have any objection. It'd be hard to believe they didn't know about it. I'm sure Mo did it all above board, but I'm also sure that not all the people selling FFVII fanworks have cleared it with SE first.

All I know is you can't do it through AO3. I don't know about Wattpad. Patreon? Twitter? In Japan a lot of fanfiction writers make little paperbacks of their fiction and sell them at places like Komiket (Comiket? I don't know how it's spelled). They also have websites where you can pay for the fic and then download it. I don't know if there's anything like that for English speakers. You could try getting a stall at a con, I guess. It's hard to see how the organisers could object to selling fanfic when they allow people to sell fanart. But Ergo is right, Mo's probably the best person to ask.

I'm not exactly sure how it works with copyright and trademarks. I would think that I'm ok since these are my own works and there are no names or anything on there

If any of you live in Portland, OR area, I was accepted to an art showcase on Oct 23. Rawartists.com/nl1984. Go to that link and purchase your ticket there. The event seems really cool. Music, modeling, crafts, painting etc. Alcohol too haha

Geirrod Van Dyke has been doing a bunch of FF-related artworks for Inktober, all as impressive as this one.

Found a few more nice fanarts while browsing around so I thought I'd share. First off is very good piece featuring Cloud and Red:

Next is Vincent:

And here's a nice portrait of Yuffie:

An excellent shot of the whole crew in their ACC attire:

And finally, of course, a few pics of Jessie (you knew that was coming, hehe :mon:)

Sorry for the double post, but I stumbled across this amazing render of Jessie and wanted to share it. The artist actually did it as a commission for Erica Lindbeck, Jessie's VA in the remake, which is pretty cool.

Also, here's an interesting one of Sephiroth, Aerith, and... Jessie? Wasn't expecting that, to be honest, but there she is. Dunno why she's so happy, aside from maybe getting to butt in on Aerith's moment - Aerith looks a bit miffed at her for that, hehe.
