FFVII Fanfiction

Its kinda bugging me that I can't find any fanfiction where Cloud succeeds in joining SOLDIER. It seems like an obvious story idea to me, but near as I can tell nobody has done it. You guys seen any fics like this?

I know, there are plenty that aim to get Cloud into SOLDIER. Most timetravel fics do it too. The writers never seems to get around to it. Cloud just always ends up getting trained by someone for 30 chapters.

I know. I've read one or two time travel ones where Cloud gets into SOLDIER, and it looks like thats the route Green Dreams is going to take as well. But I have never seen a fic, good or otherwise, that has Cloud make into SOLDIER without involving time travel. Who knows though, maybe I'll write one myself once my FF.net account starts working again. If it does.

I'd like to make a fic where Tifa decides to go with Cloud to Midgar and they both get in (Cloud and Tifa aren't the strongest people mentally, but 90% of their insecurities stem from each other so, them becoming closer friends as kids makes me buy it) But I'd have to make a new account. Otherwise it'll flood with complaints from people from my Shikamaru timetravel fic that I abandoned but is still getting new fans.

There is a story called Butterfly Effect where Cloud becomes a SOLDIER. It is not time travel, it is a what if story where a young Cloud is trained by Vincent.

Vincent was a Turk, wasn't he? Did Turks and SOLDIER interact for training like that? I mean, I guess that might be a stupid question as far as the story you're referencing goes, as it is a fanfic and not canon anyway

Its by the same author who is doing Final Fantasy 7:Another Side which is a fanfiction where Genesis is the one who burns Nibelheim and Sephiroth actually is a good guy.Plus Kunsel and Cissenei are in the group as well.Zack is also alive and well in this fiction.

Yuffie's Guide To Everything is a humour based side story which shows how Yuffie views all her teammates.It just has a few chapters but its shaping up to be comedy gold.She does a good account of Cloud's personality.Also note Cloud retains his personality that he had in Crisis Core since Zack didn't die in this story.

It rather saddens me to see the bookworms of this forum are so quiet!

I was cruising around FF.net the other day for no particular reason. I was reading the summary of every story, when for no particular reason I decided to try this one. Titled Black on Silver, it's an early Crisis Core era AU in which Sephiroth returns from a three day mission in Wutai... with a wife! It is still in progress, but frequently updated. I thoroughly enjoy its mix of seriousness and utterly silly comedic moments.

I'll admit I mainly read CloTI AUs and AerTi fics(the latter of which are unfortunately rather rare). I did read this one hilarious fix that satirized the OOC way many fix writers write the FFVII characters, i.e., Barret was a ridiculous black stereotype who called himself B-Dawg and wore tons of bling, Aerith was a zombie(parodying Aerith resurrection fics), Cloud was ridiculously girly, etc. I unfortunately can't remember the name.

I know exactly the one you mean, and it was written collaboratively by Pen Against Sword and Mengde. Sadly, it isn't up on either of their ff.net accounts any more.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a link to one of my favorite series. It was the Turks Party series by Zeng Li... but apparently he's deleted all but the first installment from FanFiction.net, and his old site doesn't come up on Google anymore.

Come to think of it, I read lots of FFVII stories on the site itself, and Kingdom Hearts.

All I can say is that her writing is fantastic. Genesis also gets a huge part in this, whee! And minor characters in CC like Kunsel and Luxiere actually play a not-so-small role in it.

Please please please, just don't take my word for it. If you have enough time, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY read it. This is easily the best ever FFVII genfic I have stumbled across. Ever. I think the only reason why it hasn't found it's way on reclists yet is because it was just finished this year. That is all.

You were right, it was good. I literally read it in two days. I can't say that about many fics.

Anyway, I binge-read the entire thing. It was excellent. Now I want more :monster:

Yeah, I loved findthetiger's fic and we used to do some RPing together back in the Genesis Award days, but I don't know if she's still active in the fandom. Sometimes the names people use on tumblr aren't the same as their fanfic writing names and then I have no idea that they're the same person.

Last I checked, findthetigher set up another FFVII fic, featuring the beginnings of the Turks, though I suspect she's busy at the moment, but yeah, she's still active on fandom. But yeah, I favorited her and her "By a Fraction of a Degree" story since I love it so much(and she pretty much finished the FFVII alternate universe story before the actual FFVII franchise was finished by the guys who made it in the first place in just two years from start to finish).
