No, it's only some of those portrayals, particularly his beginning ones from the early 2000s. You're lumping every portrayal together needlessly, reducing them without specific knowledge of those appearances he made. It's simply not accurate :monster: More recent instances of Cloud's cameos do not just Flanderize him in the way you state.

Cloud isn't from any "point" in time, World of Final Fantasy is it's own unique universe that carries different versions of Final Fantasy characters that have gone through similar circumstances but are still different because they exist in another world. Tifa continues to wear her cowgirl outfit just like Faris of FFV stays a pirate and doesn't abandon her masculine gender role. They have unique character roles and experiences.

It literally does not matter to my point lmao it’s the cumulative experience that I’m describing, especially considering how many people were first introduced to Cloud specifically through Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children

I mean, you say that but I mention it only because it's been discussed repeatedly since like 2004-2006. The way Cloud acts and is portrayed has been discussed and it's actually changed from that observation you've pointed out. It's like old ground. KH definitely matters but times have changed since then.

It'd be like pointing to Kingdom Hearts and saying Cloud's looking for Aerith in every game when... he's not.

Well, when WoFF has Cloud flat out say “don’t think for a second that I’ve given up my search” even after his little arc, I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume his primary motivation there is still revenge against Sephiroth. More to my point though, even if Square did tone down Cloud being emo there, that image of him is still prevalent because of just how popular Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children are. If there’s anything that has a chance to turn public perception of what Cloud is actually like, I would say it’s the remake more than anything.
