They can't spend 40 mins recapping old stuff, surely. The E3 demonstration was only 20 mins iirc, and things have moved on since then. By special stage I guess it's just another way of saying 'main stage', for the main event. Man ... this time next week ... Hopefully a trailer will've already dropped before this 40 min show!

Yes, that sounds like a Famitsu exclusive segment, probably playing the demo shown behind closed doors at E3 and the other conventions.
The 40 minute stage segment is most likely something similar to the one at E3 with extended footage, more gameplay demonstrations and explanations. I'm hoping for an in-depth presentation of the Materia system and I want to see that in-game menu! And some extended exploration. And more Tifa and Aerith gameplay. And... you get my point ^^

I'm obviously in the minority, but I don't really want to see so much of what's in the Remake. I'm happy to wait and be pleasantly surprised.
