FFVIIR Original Soundtrack

The last time @Tetsujin advised doing that, the set in question came with a non-optional $600 wooden shelf.

Tbf I specifically waited for a complete "deluxe" type of thing which ended up being way more expensive than it had any right to be. But there were way cheaper non-deluxe complete collections of LotR+Hobbit which is what I eventually went for :monster:

I so want this soundtrack, but so far waiting seems to be the best option. Do you think there will be a collection of the whole shebang at some point?

Have they ever released a complete collection of any soundtrack?
As far as I'm aware there are no bundles of AC+ACC, FFIX and Plus, or FFXV and its two OST volumes so I wouldn't hold out for it although somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

edit: correcting myself here, the FFIX Blu-ray Revival OST includes both original and Plus, although it also released like what, two decades later?

Geez, I really wish they had just held off on the Plus soundtrack and combined it with the Intergrade soundtrack instead. Together it would've been 7 discs, just like the main soundtrack.

Bigger picture though, I'm starting to see how CDs just aren't adequate for gaming soundtracks anymore. Not only is the sheer number of tracks increasing, but some tracks are dynamic so there might be multiple versions of it. Plus, in order to fit as many tracks as possible onto a single CD, a track might get it's length reduced. So maybe it only loops once when two loops would've listened better. It's like we need a new audio storage format.

I'm all for blu-ray soundtracks that allow you to export high quality MP3s of the songs, like the recent FF Revival soundtracks. The expanded storage would allow for tracks to be as long or as numerous as required.

I wouldn't mind that either. At least that way we could still have physical copies of the media.

@Jack Holiday, your Soundcloud has been my go-to for FFVIIR re-edits. Do you take requests? I've a been looking for a re-edit that seamlessly combines all the tracks from Chapter 4's motorbike mini-game, similar to Midgar Expressway. I just think it would listen better that way.
I can try. I can't promise seamless transitions since all those tracks play at different tempo.
2 questions: 1.do you want every track to play only once without second loop? 2.do you want to include "Run run run"?

Oh, only one loop for each track then.

Sorry, I just assumed the tracks looped twice on the original soundtrack, but listening to it now I realize that's not the case.

Right now the four tracks take about 11 minutes to listen to, so somewhere around there would be good. That way it matches the length of Midgar Expressway - Long Ver.

Thanks again for working on this.

This is exquisite. You posted earlier that it might be difficult to get seamless transitions, but the result is so good I would've never known that was a challenge. The second and third transitions are especially flawless.

Listening to all the tracks together like this, you can hear how the arrival of Roche changes the mood. What starts off as a midnight excursion turns into a battle for their lives. The chaotic strings in Speed Demon really highlight Roche's madness.

Thanks again. Everybody get out your good headphones for this one.

Holy shit, that Prelude theme....

You weren't kidding. That is clean. Damn, they aren't pulling punches with this soundtrack at least. Love the FFVII battle theme motif they snuck in there too. That's too damn good.

The First SOLDIER theme itself is amazing too. Sets the mood for something set in the beginning days of SOLDIER and being a test of one's survival abilities :monster:
