So... who else feels like they wasted their time on FFX now? Seems that really not much has changed from when we started now... in fact if anything Spira may be worse off.

Well, the good news is we know people manage to overcome -- or at least survive -- all this again since the Al Bhed/Shinra's descendants go to VII's world about a thousand years later. :monster:

If the new Sin was still rampaging around for that long, destroying technology like the old Sins, they probably wouldn't have been able to build a rocket or whatever the hell makes space travel possible.

Still, you can't help but wonder -- if they managed to build it in secret, were they fleeing one monster just to land on a world where another shows up (Jenova)? =P

Wow so the FFX world ends with Sin returning, Tidus and Yuna breaking up... a bunch of other bad shit...

what a downer

Technically this was written by the guys who created a 2000 year time loop forcing a Knight to never die (FFI), turned a Ninja's parents in to monsters he was forced to kill (FFIV), did freakish experiments on members of SOLDIER and Shinra Army members turning one of them in to the Calamity from the Skies (FFVII), turned a man's girlfriend in to the one thing he was training to kill (FFVIII), made an artificial human choose to become an angel of death or not (FFIX), killed off a Princess' husband just after they got married (FFXII), broke up Snow and Serah for... god knows how many years (FFXIII-2)... turned an entire Class of kids in to L'Cie (FFAgito/Type0)... and turned the Prince of a kingdom against a girl he happens to like (FFXV).

Color me "not surprised".

I blame the writers in general. :sickmonster:

Okay... I know character torture is really a form of character love (how else are we going to make a story about them), but when a significant portion of your stories don't really resolve the issues in the end... yeah... somethings up.

Why again are we surprised?

that's the worse part about them saying 'there's no plans for ffx-3'. these add-ons are plainly incomplete, it's not really a matter of 'leaving some part to the audience's imaginations'. it's the beginning, or at least half, of a story. and then they say 'we're not going to be doing anything with is'

i don't really believe this 'no plan' stuff much either way :awesome: why would you write a bunch of stuff obviously meant to lead on to something new that you have no plan of making. (unless it just means 'we're not actively making because so many people hated it')

Yeah but they've been saying that about an FFVII remake for a while so... maybe don't be surprised?

I didn't know that they said it about Eternal Calm though... maybe they just want to see if we want it?

Reactions so far seem to be "No, thank you." XD

I think Nojima wants to "fix" X-2's ending and make Yuna have to let go of Tidus again and learn to live without him again. The way he wanted it.

And, really, he may be the one who needs to let go. Yes, it was more poignant that way, but it's too late to go back on what's already been done without the audience feeling jerked around. You can't do X-2's incomplete ending a second time. Yuna got to have Tidus back -- The End.

okay so... did Nojima work on X-2 or no? This sounds like a case of someone being upset that their work was taken from them and changed

This cocksucker will ruin FF with his farces. Why give us the concept of a downer ending at all when we worked to get a proper and justified ending? :( Nojima can go eat dicks

He did write it, but the happy ending was mandated. He didn't want Tidus to actually come back.

So the man hates Tidus as well?... okay then he has my support :awesome:

But okay yeah I can see where this is coming from... he's trying to change it back into what he wanted. It's starting to make sense now. But again as Hito pointed out, it's not like these stories have endings... they're half a story. Something should be done to finish them even if it's not what Nojima wants...

on the other hand look where we are with FFVII, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

TBH, the thing that bugs me the most about all this is not that Tidus is dead. I'm actually okay with that type of "we saved the world and sacrificed someone unintentionally" ending. What bugs me is that in Eternal Coast there's no reason why Tidus died after he came back. It's random. And has no meaning other then to invalidate the ending of X-2.

And I think that's why everyone's going "WTF just happened?". If it had been shown that there was an understandable reason as to why he had died (like oh say, one of Syemor's guys having an axe to grind) then I think we wouldn't be crying foul over it. 'Cuz curently Tidus is dead because he and Yuna picked the wrong island at the wrong time.

Wait, so... Nojima is Sephiroth???

THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.

I've been reading up on this book, and.....er.....has any information surfaced in the years since release that has explained what Nojima was thinking when he wrote this? Has he commented on it at all? It just seems terrible in a way that doesn't suit his normal work.

I hardly read the books( though I have some ideas about them which were pretty cringe-worthy in my opinion) and the audio drama left me to simply ignore it as I'm one of those happy ending kind of fans. But this sounds more like Nojima is a huge fan of bittersweet and tragic/sad endings and hated how Final Fantasy X-2 ended and wants to make his stories and games as tragic and sad as possible. Or maybe he's not a fan of romance.
