Oh no it's fine because:

This is the earth guardian fight in which you should only be seeing Zidane and Quina, so what they've done is taken the first 4 characters in the game and put them in random situations for the sole purpose of screenshots. Phew.

No encounter mode... Time to get stoned-beyond-basic-motor-controls and stumble around the mist continent!

You know what, a No Encounters mode may be just enough to get me to play this thing again. The godawful slowness during battles was compounded by how frequent the damn things were.

You know, if you'd forced yourself to just get over it you'd be as obsessed with FFIX as the rest of us :P. We all have to make sacrifices Tres :desu:

(like getting through XIII for the first time without falling asleep)

Being able to turn off encounters is making me consider getting this as well. I share Tres's complaints about them; they're pretty much the weakest part of the game. Maybe the only weak part of the game, actually. This will also make it much easier to get the Excalibur II (with or without a perfect game).

Someone on Steam has done a little detective work XD:

I was quick to point out (both there and on reddit) that the game was originally listed for release on that date before it was changed to "Early 2016" on Steam, which is probably the only reason it's in that position. I'm hopeful that's not the case though.

Double posting, but they just changed the listing for FFIX from "Early 2016," to the same "Coming Soon" that FFVI had on its release date. This might actually be happening, people.

If it comes out at a reasonable price (I'm expecting 12,99€ with an initial 10% discount) and at a reasonable time (within the next few hours) I'll get it and stream it, maybe all the way through, with encounters off. I made a new Twitch account for myself - Flintlock was taken so I went with Flintrocks.

For some quality entertainment, check out the Steam discussion threads on this game right now. This is no longer a wait for a game; it's a goddamn quest.

It's gone back to "Available: Early 2016" status and currently appears at the end of January on Steam's upcoming release list. Sad times.

That's a shame, I was hoping it was going to release yesterday. I decided not to check it out until much later just to get a surprise if they did actually release it, so I actually missed the page changing. I did see people going nuts in the community hub thinking it was coming out through. Kinda glad I wasn't around to get my hopes up when the page changed XD.

Currently having an argument on Reddit with someone calling this an HD remaster XD

He who shall not be named replied to something I wrote on reddit a few weeks ago. That was enough for me to not want to engage with that community :P

Oh for real? Is it the person I'm debating with at the moment or someone else?

I comment in there from time to time just to try and promote TLS/discuss wider FF stuff that isn't being actively being discussed here, but there is a concentrated level of idiocy there. I don't mean that in a cunty obnoxious way, just generally people spouting absolute rubbish like its proven fact. It's almost like YouTube comments.

Oh, no. Someone we've had trouble with in the past. Dont think he knew it was me though. I editted the name out incase he lurks here. :P

Reddit and youtube have a lot of people who are confident in their opinion even if they're wrong. Someone tried arguing with me earlier on youtube about some shit just to try to prove how smart they were, but the point they were trying to make was such an obvious thing, you just get drawn in to point out how fucking stupid they're being. That just leads to more bullshit. I just try to stay away from comments sections.

I want to engage with our youtube community, but it gets so mind numbingly stupid

I've replied to a comment or two under the TLS banner but it's always been very customer servicey. As in, "thanks for your comment! Yeah we see what you mean about the world imploding and our mothers being whores, stay tuned for more TLS goodness!"

On my own accounts all bets are off. heheheh
