Holy FUCK this game is violent.

I got my hands on that fan translation patch thing and managed to get the proper custom firmware working on my PSP so I've been playing this for a couple of hours.

Spoiler: Opening spoilers

Lots of blood and stabbing. And someone murdered a chocobo. Like proper there is blood all over this chocobo and it's dead making weak kweh noises and I am more shocked than I thought I could possibly be by some violence. Holy shit man it's just so ;-;

This is getting at least a 15/16 rating in the UK.

EDIT: .....i've been playing this for 3 hours and I don't want to put it down. Reserving judgement for now but I think I love this game. I don't know how far I want to go or if I want to wait til March or something, I've already pre-ordered it :/

i have picked the psp version back up to finish my second play through (since you have to complete it at least twice to get the most out of it), but i keep telling myself that i will leave certain things undone (one of the extra dungeons and the side boss) so i have something to do in the hd one

even though i don't have a ps4 or and xbone

march is a long way away though

it will give me time to make a proper plan for what to do in each chapter to avoid screwing things up

i am interested to see what happens to:
- the requests/missions that needed the multiplayer mode to complete (get so many sp points, raise your rank, etc.)
- the 'secret training' thing where you leave your psp in sleep mode and get exp or stat boosts (or if you have a vita or pspgo do what i did and change the system clock over and over until you reach level 99)
- the square enix members stuff where you trade stamps for items (i am going to miss that because i used it to get items to complete quests or when i just wanted good equipment straight away)
- if they will do away with the a.i. support characters since it doesn't have the multiplayer mode

Then I highly recommend you stop. This game can get pretty repetitive and you need to do two playthroughs to unlock the real ending. You're in serious danger of getting bored by the time you get the PS4 version.

i don't know about 'real ending', since there's only one but it's more like there's extra bonus videos which unlock after a second playthrough. but if you wanted to complete the game story wise you do have to play it twice at least. (if you wanted to get stuff like the best weapons you have to play it a third time to get them, or use the stamp trading thing at the members site which might not even apply for the hd version.) that's assuming you manage your time right. or if you're going for completing all the missions, that you accept them in the proper order otherwise you're screwed for that playthrough. you have to finish the game and try again next time.

you could basically make a demo out of it and only play the first two chapters (which iirc was the content of the 'zeroshiki' demo the psp had).

Btw it's available in the UK aswell but you need to get it from Square-Enix's site and it's about £10-£20 more expensive than it should be (IMO). I'm basing this off the fact that the game on its own is £15 more expensive there than at other retailers.

I actually think it doesn't look that great. There's another Type-0 PS4 that's a prize for a sweepstakes campaign they're doing and it looks a lot better.
