I wonder if that's supposed to be Etro and Muin?

Ex-SOLDIER
Because, as it's been discussed before, S-E are nowadays better at making handheld games. Just as that 3DS game with prerendered backgrounds, whose name I don't remember now. It looked good enough.

@Arianna, that was exactly my guess. Whether that's right or wrong, I guess we'll know, in time.

Famitsu has some new details on FINAL FANTASY Type-0.
New Characters
Diva (VA: Maaya Sakamoto)
The two women in the Type-0 logo.
Caetuna (VA: Marina Inoue)
Type-B Suzaku l’Cie. Specializing in the summoning arts. It is said she could summon any Gunshin.
Oriens’ oldest l’Cie, according to name records since the world war 200 years ago.
Ninbus (VA: Junichi Suwabe)
Type-A Byakko l’Cie. Created purely to fulfill the mission or Focus of the Crystal. He has not appeared for nearly 100 years. Uses a laser beam weapon in battle. Able to call for an orbital laser strike on a target.
(Possibly the same orbital laser seen in the Natsubi demo’s Mission 3)
Enkidu (VA: Shotaro Morikubo)
Genbu’s l’Cie. Childhood friend and guide of Gilgamesh. “After repeatedly being scolded by the Consul the other day…” spoken to Gilgamesh. It’s body is completely covered in armor.
Aria (VA: Ai Nonaka)
Class Zero underling, item merchant. Usually obedient, but sometimes cracks.
Naghi (VA: Hirotsugu Shirokuma)
Self-proclaimed idol of everyone. A bandana wearing cadet. Aloof, but part of the Intelligence Team
Carla (VA: Aya Hirano)
A blonde girl who calls herself the Merchant of Flame. Dislikes Class Zero, and thus sells items and information to them at inflated prices. Well-liked by teachers for her brilliance.
Moogles
Known as the Cranberry Knights. Each Moogle represents each class’s characteristics, and dresses accordingly. As each class’s aide, they are closely-related to the summons.

Class Zero: Suzaku uniform
Class One: Blue armor and sword
Class Two: Dragoon
Class Three: Red Mage
Class Four: Geomancer. Red hat and scarf
Class Five: Monk
Class Six: Green/Time Mage
Class Seven: Conjurer wielding a cane
Class Eight: Thief
Class Nine: Ninja
Class Ten: Scholar
Class Eleven: Professor
Class Twelve: Blue Mage
System and More
Gunshin Diablos
Devil Gunshin. Known for his ability to absorb enemy HP. “Dark Collapse” creates a barrier that expands,
slowly drawing enemy towards it, much like “Gravity Ball”. “Gravity Ball” increases in damage as the
button is hold down, creating a gravity sphere that absorbs enemy HP.
Air Combat Missions
Some missions will involve killing flying dragons using rapid-fire cannons mounted on the airship. There will also be battles on the deck with dragons from one of the dragon knight orders of Concordia.
New Abilities
Acquired and upgraded using AP (Like in the demo)
Machina – “Swordfield” Spins both blades around in a cyclone
Nine – “Throw Javelin” Penetrates enemy defense
Ace – “Laser Cannon” After a short delay, fires lasers at enemies
Queen – “Energy Bomb” Hold down button to enhance power at the cost of HP, causing a huge explosion
Rem – “Boomerang Dagger” Throws dagger like a boomerang. There seems to be a way to control when it returns.
Skirmish
RTS-like mission on world map, where victory conditions must be met. Special missions (the demo’s S.O. which can be achieved through special conditions), upon completion, will grant command of that related mission’s platoon of troops. Mechanized forces are particularly strong.
Arena
Secondary type Combat-training. Runs a gauntlet of 20 mock battles where you can gain experience and draw Phantoma. Experience can still be gained after a character dies. Items still need to be bought, however. There’s apparently a “secret special mission” in which a particular trainee gets experience while the PSP is in sleep mode. This is limited to one person at any time, it seems.

FINAL FANTASY Type-0 has had an interesting life over the past five years, but now it’s finally ready for release. Announced as FINAL FANTASY Agito XIII alongside FINAL FANTASY XIII, it was initially conceived as a game for cell phones that’d only launch in Japan. As the project ballooned it became a fully-fledged PSP title and eventually became FINAL FANTASY Type-0, dropping the association with FF13. It’s now grown to be so large that it actually stretches onto two UMD discs, meaning players will have to swap discs mid-way through the game. That’s a hell of an upgrade from a cell phone game.
Disc swapping isn’t the only similarity to old-school FINAL FANTASY titles in Agito – it’ll feature a fully-fledged world map, traditional style summons and a school of mercenaries set against a backdrop of a world at war that is more than a little reminiscent of FINAL FANTASY VIII. This is clearly a game quite deliberately aimed to be a little more similar to the PS1 era of FINAL FANTASY than anything in the main-line series since.
Developed by many of the same staff who made Crisis Core: FINAL FANTASY VII, there’s a staff pedigree and feature set here that is leaving many old-school Final Fantasy fans very excited.
Sadly, though, it hasn’t been announced for the West at all despite the Japanese launch being mere weeks away! But have no fear – the PSP is region-free and Play Asia have the Asian and Japanese versions of the game available for preorder. In addition to that, two versions of the soundtrack by Crisis Core composer Takeharu Ishimoto are also available for Preorder.

I just want them to releasae this outside of Japan. I'm not importing, I've had enough hard time with the demo.

Demand has nothing to do with it. How many of us would play the Final Mix-type games if they came over here?

But yes, let us have Type-0 SE. I want my Rem!

Sorry to the Admins for the spam but...THERE ARE TOO MANY TYPE-0 news that I wanna share with my amazing/beautiful TLS Members:

I
Square Enix has thus far said that Final Fantasy Type-0 has twelve main characters in addition to Machina and Rem (who are also main characters, but have special standing so they're counted separately). It turns out that rather than twelve, the number is actually thirteen.
Director Hajime Tabata mentions the presence of a thirteenth character in an interview in the latest issue of Square Enix's own Gan Gan comic magazine.
Other points mentioned in the interview include:

  • The average clear time for the first run through is 40 hours
  • The game has five summons
  • On your second play through, you'll get to experience a different story surrounding Class 0
That last statement is a bit vague, but it does suggest that you'll want to play through the game multiple times to get the full experience.

II:
Takeharu Ishimoto’s score for FINAL FANTASY Type-0 is set to release one day ahead of the game proper.
To celebrate, Square Enix has released a trailer of sorts, specifically for the OST. Sample some of the new tracks, along with CG and gameplay scenes. For those interested in purchasing, you can preorder the standard or special edition of it over on Play-Asia.

FINAL FANTASY Type-0 graces the cover of this month’s Dengeki PlayStation, so naturally, some new information has come with it.
A good majority of the content is a news summary of all the information we know so far about the game. In addition, a new character was revealed. His name is “Quon” (voiced by Ryoutarou Okiayu). As Suzaku’s Magic Researcher, he always has the latest in relation to magic, which is also his only interest, basically.
Regarding the game’s world map, you are only able to go adventuring on Suzaku territory, but as you come to control more territories you’ll be able to explore more.
In the school there are several characters and objects to interact with. The tonberry is recommended.
On the world map you can also see wild chocobos walking around, which you have must tame in order to ride.
As for the interview itself, you can read the full transcript as follows. It focuses mostly on the game’s large collection of characters. Thanks to reader Goli for the translation.
Ooe: Regarding battles, the main goal was representing war in a fantasy world. This can be seen in when you see the lives of allies, enemies and companions fade. Director Hajime Tabata stressed to the whole team about the importance of this.
Yuji: Unlike enemies in typical RPGs, using the Kill Sight system you can easily defeat enemies which creates a certain feeling of tension.
Ooe: Ace is one of the main characters but unlike the others, he has a special weapon. His attacks are suitable for begginers since they allow attacking from a distance making avoiding incoming enemy attacks easier.
Ooe: Queen is somewhere between your regular comittee member/class president/some other similar occupation, and a mass slaughter machine. She carries a sword, but that doesn’t hinder her. She’s also good with magic. During battle you can see under her skirt, which is kind of amusing.
Yuji: Nine is similar to Queen, but more focused on strength. He’s good with critical hits, which might not seem like much at first, but it gets very thrilling. Using him by
randomly having him attack everything all over the place isn’t a very good idea, however.
Yuji: Sice is like a typical dark heroine who mows down enemies.
Ooe: King is probably the second hardest character to control.
Yuji: Because he carries two small guns it might give the impression that he’s a frail and weak character, but in reality he’s quite the contrary. The closer you are to the enemy, the higher the damage dealt will be.
Yuji: Eight is my favorite character. Similarly to a beat-em’-up game, the timing along with how long you hold down the attack button plus what you input with the analog stick controls his attacks. You can also cancel his attacks to make infinite combos. Mixing all these will allow you to use his true potential.
He’s a very energetic character.
Ooe: Jack wasn’t present in the demo but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised once you play as him. This decision came from the development staff. His fighting style is similar to the Jigen-ryuu.
Yuji: Seven to me is the kind of character who likes to toy with enemies. Her fighting style allows her to do attack that cover a wide area which make her easy to use, but it might get monotonous.
Ooe: While attacking she can’t move leaving her exposed to the enemies, whcih is why evading enemy attacks and timing yours properly is key, which is fun.
Yuji: Deuce has a lot of attacks designed specifically for her. Normally the AI of your other party members has them attack enemies different than the one you’re targeting, but when Deuce plays her music they direct their attacks to the one you have locked on. This makes her a useful support character for difficult missions.
Ooe: Cinque is a character similar to Jack.
Yuji: Cinque has a low attack speed which makes it difficult to Kill Sight with, but her normal combo deals much more damage compared to the others which makes her fun to play.
Yuji: Trey is hard to describe since he uses a bow and arrows, which makes him seem very simplistic.
Ooe: Trey’s forte is long range distance attacks. If you hold down the attack button you can charge the arrows and have them deal greater damage, and extend their range. He’s better than King or Ace at taking down enemies from a distance.
Yuji: Cater was one of the characters who needed the most fine tuning. In order to differentiate her from King, we had her use a magic gun that uses special bullets
with all sorts of effects. Unlike King who can move and fire at the same time, Cater has to stop moving to shoot. To compensate, her movement speed is higher.
Yuji: Rem and Machina are also part of the group of main characters. Rem is a magic oriented character, which made her a bit overpowered at first so we had to adjust her. Unlike other characters, her magical power stat is about twice as big and she can equip two magic spells from the start.
Ooe: Her abilities allow her to replenish her own MP giving her an unlimited supply of it, which also serves to differentiate her from the rest of the characters
Yuji: Machina on the other hand isn’t a magic oriented character. His biggest feature is the ability to create a 10 hit combo with his dual rapiers. In the demo it was
a bit hard to aim, but it’s been adjusted since. During the second half of the combo, it cannot be interrupted.
Yuji: This is the first time a game has had so many different play styles and battle systems, so I hope you’ll have fun finding your own.
Ooe: This game has a very different atmosphere from others in the series, so I hope fans are able to feel all the spirit the staff put into it.
