Wow and Setzer comes from the same game where Edgar uses a fricken chainsaw, crossbow, drill and a poison machine. That's pitiful compared to one spear.

Edgar is the one character that gets stuff like that, and he's still just an ittybity sprite. Beyond that, FFVI's character have greater variation in their appearance beyond their weapons. In a game where everybody has the same outfit, the guy with bland haircut, a piece of paper for weapon and not posing like he's hotshit or anything is the one that LOOKS the least awesome to me. What is your giant problem with that concept?

I'm not interested that much in Ace because you don't really see his personality like with the rest of the characters in their renders. Nine looks cocky, Sice looks like she doesn't take shit, Eight has determination and confidence in his look, King looks the calm and collected type. It seems to me like their weapons are extensions of themselves and for Ace it's like that sort of thing is not there. Maybe it makes sense that he uses cards because he's Ace, the first and highest in a deck, and refers directly to the fact that everyone is named after a number but still I can't really see his personality nearly as well as the rest of the characters.

Yeah, I can definitely see that, Ciss. And now that you point that out, it's very blatant.
It's possible that they aimed for making his personality more "balanced". In that... he's not too much of any one personality type - so he appeals to everyone. idk if that's what they did or even if that would work. I mean, take a guy like Squall for instance... or Tidus. There are some people that like them and others that say "he's a jerk" or "he's too cheery" "it's annoying".
So what happens with a character like Ace is that his "balanced" personality comes off more as not having one at all. Makes him uninteresting. Although, we'll have to wait and see... maybe he has a personality that just hasn't come across yet.
As for the whole "uses cards for weapons"... I personally don't see the big deal. Lulu used dolls for weapons and it didn't make her any less cool. He might use the cards for magic or summoning (although it seems all characters can do that, so idk). I can see how compared to the other characters, it would be a turn-off, but I guess it just didn't bother me.

A Type-0 demo will come out in Japan soon, and the characters will be wearing summer outfits in the demo. Completing the demo will unlock these same outfits for use in the final game.
And on a related know, GOD DAMN REM IS SO FUCKING ADORABLE! I want her, my birthday is the 17th, wrap Rem up in a bow and mail her to me. She's hardly the first FF lady I've found attractive. but this is different. She's cute as a button!

rofl same I grew up with a uniform all the way up to 10th grade so I'm like... uniforms aren't that cool. My high school uniform was a major pain in the ass with knee-highs, blazers, sweater vests and ties in deadly Texas weather. UGH.
I don't like the school thing either, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm 22 and I don't want to look like a pedophile. I'm deadly serious. Plus, she may look cool but I would wait till her what her personality is like first. She could totally be a total Ashe.

I liked my school uniform
We didn't wear knee highs though. We wore regular socks in grammar school, and stockings in high school. No blazers except in winter, but we only had to wear them in the hallways/cafeteria/library. We didn't have sweaters or ties. Just button shirts and skirts.

In other news, I picked out the distinct voices of Garland and CoD, and possibly Ultimecia (Japanese, of course) coming from the headmasters. Check it out in the trailer.

EDIT - Checked and turns out SE really likes recycling the VAs. Other characters you can look forward to hearing in this game are Sora, Cloud, Auron/Squall/Cait Sith, Zack, Snow, Hope, Yuna and Shantotto. And once I discovered this info and watched the trailer again, it's impossible to miss now.
And yes, Auron's Japanese VA also voices Squall and Cait Sith. Mind = BLOWN

Yeah, this has a serious seiyuu all star cast. Going through the trailer I could pretty much put four previous roles to every voice I heard. All pretty much the same character type. Kinda irritating. Reminded me why I stopped watching anime for a while.
