Phew. Raising all that gil for Fort Condor took longer than I had expected and in the end I didn’t spend as much as I thought I would need. I found the area in Junon where you can fight Death Machines and steal W Machine Guns from them. It would have been less time consuming to just fight for my money; however I wanted to try and keep the party from levelling up too much. Gil in hand I took on Fort Condor and made the discovery that I only needed to buy fighters, send them to the bottom of the screen and wipe out any enemies there for a quick victory. I don’t know why it’s taken me until now to find out about that but hey I’m learning a few things from this journey.

Stopped by the mythril man. Here’s the stats as I found them:

They’ll be a lot different now as I did a lot of running away during this chapter and didn’t have the heart to go back and check them out again (I didn’t do the last Fort Condor battle available to me but it can be done at the start of the next chapter if Kuroto wants to do it).

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Bought a couple of HP Plus materia with the spare cash I had saved and continued on up to see Grandpa. Oh on the way there’s this favourite line of mine:

I like that Cosmo Canyon isn’t just Nanaki’s story and that there are also bits and pieces from the other party members as well. From Aerith’s realisation that she’s the last Ancient to Tifa questioning whether Cloud is the real Cloud. It feels to me as if this is the first time since Kalm that they’ve sat down and talked and are not rushing off to chase Sephiroth (I can’t recall if he is mentioned at all whilst the party is here. Jenova is and saving the planet is talked about quite a bit. No Sephiroth by my recollection).

Okay so the second discovery I made on this journey was the fact that the enemies in the Cave of the Gi are susceptible to Frog Song. Including this critter:

Making this dungeon ridiculously easy. And yes I cheated and used an X-Potion on Gi Nattak :P I love this dungeon. It's the first one since Shinra HQ which feels atmospheric (creepy giant skeletons, sudden slippery spike trap, giant spider web and a wall with a face, yep definitely creepy) and one which I found enjoyable. The Temple of the Ancients is the only other dungeon after this in which I truly enjoy exploring.

And now for my favourite scene in the whole game and one of the few to bring tears to my eyes when I first played (and on some subsequent play-throughs). The music (Great Warrior is one of my all time faves), the howling of Nanaki as Seto's tears fall...ah I don't have the words to describe it. I personally believe that this scene is better at manipulating my emotions than Aerith's death but that's just my opinion.

Kuroto is going to play Chapter 9 either today or Wednesday, so here's how the rest of the game is going to pan out. I've used random.org again.

First, everyone who hasn't yet played a chapter gets to play one. That's Airling and Dragonslayer Ornstein. Carlie, I asked if you wanted to try playing again but you never replied, so I'm assuming you don't.

I see I get one of the handful of legitimately difficult boss fights in the game. I'm sure you will all make sure I'm more than prepared.

Lex, I'll gladly step in if somehow you can't do your chapter. I actually never went in to destroy Sephiroth, got stuck farming Magic Pots :wacky:

Well if you want to switch I'm easy? It's up to you, I don't mind the snow maze or wherever really :monster:

The only thing I'll say is that the earliest I can do it if we switch is this Thursday since I'm away right now. I mean I could do it on this laptop but I'd rather stream etc.

Kuroto has just told me that she has completed her chapter. I tried to get someone to cover for her yesterday, but when I couldn't, I decided just to let her have the extra couple of days. Dragonslayer Ornstein is up next, but he hasn't been on TLS in six days. I'll send a PM and if he doesn't reply by tomorrow, I'll let someone else play. Feel free to volunteer if you want an extra chapter!

So, here goes. Booted up and noticed that our party was missing someone. I had asked Kuroto if she was going to avoid getting Vincent so as not to name Cid after herself, and I guess that's what she did:

Anyway, I went around the Shinra Mansion finding the safe combination without looking it up, just for a change. It wasn't long before our team reached its full quota:

After the recent discussion about the 3-D Battler game in the CPR thread, I just had to try it out. But where was it? I couldn't remember for the life of me. Luckily, the Crystal Fortune machine was on hand to help me out:

What had me most nervous about my section was, of course, Demon Gate. I'm not overly skilled with the pressing of buttons and the lining up of attacks, and I end up with one of the harder fights in the game, naturally:wacky:. I survived:

Just barely. Big hugs to whoever got us Big Guard on the Enemy Skill.

I've not spoken to anyone or done anything in Gongaga since that kind of feels like part of the next chapter to me.

There's nothing much to do in Gongaga at this point; aside from the Cloud-waking-up scene, all the interesting events (fighting the Turks, spying on Scarlet, ignoring Aeris and Tifa) take place before getting the Keystone.

Thanks for being so quick to complete your chapter. :) Kuroto's up again next and I've already asked if she can play.
