So I just finished this game, tears were shed, dem feels man!

Game is amazing I love it so much, it's this game that solidified me as a Final Fantasy fan back in 2002 and it is probably the game that shaped me into the gamer that I am today as cheesey as that sounds! :monster:

Also Lex, I got the platinum, Penance was a bitch but I bested him.

You know my friend Universal Dark who just joined the forum - she's never played a FF game in her life. But she's been staying with me for a bit so I gave her my Vita to play X on in her spare time and she's really enjoying it.

Anyway I'm only posting because I am pissing myself laughing at her reaction to the first Blitzball match. Verbatim:

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

"I've nae idea whit the fuck am meant tae be dain right now"

"Yass I just caught the baw"

EDIT: I was also trying to explain that Wakka should be used to attack the flying enemies because he has high accuracy and when I said "Use Wakka" she said "I don't know what a Wakka is".

I swear

:')

I've always loved your accent in a totally non-platonic way. :monster:

"What's a Wakka?" is definitely my favourite line from an FF post this year!

Oh boy did I have to crawl back a long way to find this thread XD

Anyway after a long break (needed after the absolute gauntlet that was platting X in a week) I'm beginning X-2. I'm taking it easy this time but I'm going for 100% completion in one playthrough. It might not be doable (I remember how terribly specific certain parts are) but if I'm close it's just less work for a NG+ playthrough.

I'm using this guide as a general pointer.

I also have the piggyback guide, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a better FAQ guide? The most annoying thing is that none of the written guides factor in the fact that it's the international version. This doesn't affect my completion %, but there are certain trophies that are missable that I need to watch (some enemies don't appear in the Via Infinito and are needed to complete Shinra's bestiary for example).

I think it's time for me to start FFX-2 HD as well. :P
I planned to do it after getting the platinum for X but who knows if I'll ever get around to that grind.

I think I'll aim for two playthroughs. Can't be bothered to stress out about getting 100% in one playthrough + as many trophies as possible.

Also, this thread really needs to be moved out of the news section and into the FF section imo.

lol ugaiz made me chuckle <3

I've been playing it a few hours per night a week - I've finished Chapter 1 with max possible percentage. Just gave the sphere to Nooj and I'll be playing a bit more today.

While I have the old Piggyback guide, I've been following this guide and this guide to the letter, and my percentage is above both totals (and it has been since about halfway through chapter 1). I'm a little worried I've fucked up somewhere, but even if I don't manage it in one playthrough I can always NG+ and give the sphere to New Yevon. The rest of the trophies are still doable in one playthrough even if I screw this one up.

OMG you guys, the creature creator is so much fun!

I have this thing with RPG's like this where I become a bit overwhelmed if there are too many features. FFX-2 is kind of a confusing mess mini-game and "extra feature" wise to begin with, so I kind of eyerolled at the creature creator but it's kind of a joy to mess around with.

For example, you start out with Brother, who when attacking, screams "YUNAAAA!!" (still weird that she's his cousin and he's all over her but w/e) then hits enemies with his butt! He just did a power break on a large enemy and buttslammed it, I got such a laugh.

Into the bargain you can catch characters like Auron, Lulu, Tidus etc. if certain conditions are fulfilled. You can't control them, but in this game that's almost a bonus because if you give them cool abilities you don't have to worry about being quick with your choices and the AI is quite intuitive. There's one trophy for completing a fiend tale which just requires you to catch one and level it a few times. So I caught one of the lizard looking enemies and named it Lizzie (my mother's name lololol, creature indeed) and taught it protect spells and stuff, it's pretty cool.

I also caught the Guardian Beast and Elma, so it should be fun to mess around with all of them in battle.

x-2's international version was the first time i thought they had added enough to make a second purchase worth it (i got the ps2 version with my imported ps2 as my first game)

i keep thinking about playing this but my ps3 keeps yellow lighting and i don't want to use discs with it in case it dies and the disc is stuck inside :sadpanda:

Have you tried any of the fixes around google for the YLOD? I haven't ever had it though my PS3 has been giving me disc read errors and more freezes on games than usual recently, I'm terrified it's going to croak at some point with all my stuff on it but I don't have a spare 500GB hard drive to back it all up :/

This tutorial looks like something I would do if my console was doing it consistently. Maybe it's a problem with where you're keeping it, is there enough space/ ventilation around it?

I wouldn't open the console up unless it was dire straits, but I did buy a soldering iron and solder/ desolder and a kit a while ago to fix my TV, so if something like this happened to my PS3 and I couldn't get it working at all I'd open it up and check it out. I never thought I'd be able to do something like that but honestly it's not too hard, it's quite hard to mess it up if you follow the tutorials and stuff properly. I fitted a custom case and bypass chip on my old PS2 (which somehow still works and it's a fat launch-day black) and the feeling when you're successful is pretty cool.

If it's dying, it's time to tinker with it (after backing your shit up) because usually you get it working again and find out you can do all sorts of cool stuff :monster:

EDIT: Gaaaaaah I've made myself want to mod my PS2 again and now I'm thinking about installing a hard drive on it so all the games are just sitting there... FFX and X-2 and XII international just sitting on the hard drive to be played whenever I like >.<

I haven't tried out the Creature Creator yet because I kinda felt overwhelmed by this whole new thing they added and it's like "YOU CAN CAPTURE ALL THE THINGS AND GIVE THEM DRESSPHERES AND ABILITIES AND LEVEL THEM AND UNLOCK STUFF". O_o

Also...what *was* the point of Leblanc performing a concert while pretending to be Yuna?

Also, I'm not a fan of Yuna's HD face. Something seems off.

I don't mind their "new" models, my main problem is that the NPC's are all old model-ey so sometimes in conversations it's super noticeable that YRP are like... 20 steps down the gene pool or something. This is present in FFX aswell but somehow it's a LOT more noticeable in this game.
