Go to Serendipity, there's a little alcove on the left, go talk to the choco-sage lady and she gives you a Moogle Throw upgrade and a Haggling upgrade. Go to Fragment Skills and turn them on.
Pretty sure no, item scavanger only applies to item drops. But you can up it through a Fragment skill. I just forget which one.
Feral links also increase monster drop rates depending on the percentage of the feral link used as a killing blow (or the last one used, I don't remember). Monsters like Cactaur have the potential for 777%
Um....Level 99 COM/SEN for Noel
Level 99 RAV/MED w/Paradox Weapon for Serah
And I think a Level 14 Bunkerbeast....
This was my second attempt actually...just cannot get to her before she heals/stuns/kills off my SENs.
Jihl was hard for me even with a fully leveld party and monsters infused with all the right abilities. I've never seen one definite "best" way to defeat her, everyone has used something different.
Official pricing is I believe 4.99 with Snow's dlc being 3.99. And all the costumes including all of mogs with be the usual 2.99.
The price kinda tells me that there isn't going to be substantial story in either, and that that Snow's is probably going to be more of just a coliseum battle rather than an episode (booo, they promised me an episode).
That said they also released information about the new novel Fragments after
Keeping its promise to expand the the Final Fantasy XIII-2 story beyond DLC, Square Enix will release a 242-page novel based on the sequel in Japan this June.
Called Final Fantasy XIII-2 Fragments After the novel will cover the untold stories of Lightning, Snow, Alyssa, Noel and Yule which will span 5 chapters.
Lightning’s events as the Knight of the Temple of Etro
Snow’s reunion with Lightning in dreams, and how he became a l’Cie again.
Alyssa’s mourning of dead and mercy of fate
Noel, Yule and Caius’s precious memories with our friends
Yule’s wish while wandering in time
A similar novel, Final Fantasy XIII-2 Fragments Before, was released in Japan alongside the video game’s debut last December. Final Fantasy XIII-2 Fragments After will release in Japan on Jun 21, for 980 yen.
*sigh* I just want answers to that ending please. Is there going to be yet another sequel? I feel like Light's and Snow's DLCs will answer some previous questions but that ending...
Most obnoxious boss battles ever. I am by no means an advanced player but I would like to believe that I'm not that terrible.
So SE created a game with an incomplete story, and then released DLC that will supposedly explain events of the game (to some extent) in the form of really difficult boss battles.
The Caius battle is at least somewhat manageable and actually a little fun if you don't mind dying several times to attain a higher level. I'm just too tired to make another attempt right now.
That Snow episode... NO comment.
I mean really SE, it shouldn't have to be this stressful.
It's weird because when you play you are like, this is easy. Then SOVEREIGN FIST. The fight is easy if you can avoid that.
Actually I wrote up a strategy if anyone else is having trouble.
Imperil>Chainboost>Allow him to kill whatever character he is targeting to switch his targets>Dispel when he buffs himself>Deprotect and Deshell>Stagger>Com/Com/Com
This fight is easily manageable if it wasn’t for one exception
the only thing you need to worry about is Sovereign Fist. It will one shot your party, have full health, SenSenSen, and protect buffs be damned. The entire trick to this battle is making sure that he never uses it.
From what I heard, the only way to avoid Sovereign Fist is the force Snow’s attention to another character after awhile. If he attacks one character for too long, he will eventually max out his power and attack.
It’s easiest just to allow the character he is attack die so he can switch his attention. Buy and be liberal with your phoenix downs. Wound potions wouldn’t hurt either. Another option is to stagger different roles with Sens and provoke Snow to another character. Didn’t work out to well for me, so I won’t use this technique.
My monster pack: I used as my party, COM- Goddess!Lightning from the dlc. She’s a beast, she’s fast and hits hard- fully potent level uped with all the good infusions. But any good com that can competently damage launched enemies are good. This means no chichu.
I used Cloudburst as my RAV, simply because his feral attacks gives me faith. I’m pretty sure though that en- won’t do much because he isn’t weak to elements He’s also relatively easy to kill and this is a plus here.
The last monster doesn’t really matter much. I used Yakishini as my syn but I rarely really used the third monster.
For equipment I used Serah’s Indriat (ATB boosting weapon) and Noel’s Gradita (or whatever his chainboosting weapon is called). You can experiment with different accessories, general stat boosts, rav enhancing, or grimore hat isn’t bad.
My roles were (Serah/Noel/Monster)
Com/Com/Com
Med/Rav/Rav
Rav/Rav/Rav
Sab/Rav/Rav
Sab/Rav/Syn
Sen/Sen/Syn
Start off as Sab/Rav/Rav- Use the full bar to imperil him. He has high chain resistance so this will help.
It is easy to deprotect and deshell him. However because he can buff himself up I usually save this for right before I stagger him
Rav/Rav/Rav him and allow him to kill whoever he is targeting. When you know he switches targets, Med/Rav/Rav and raise the other monster, either with abilities or a phoenix down. I will go into Sen/Sen/Syn if one of my Serah or Noel is down and I feel the other is in danger
If this is successful you will eventually get a “Time to chill.” He is powering down and this means he won’t use Sovereign Fist for now..
When you stagger him, try to boost his stagger gauge to a respectable 700~800 amount. I don’t have this paradigm, but a relentless assault (rav/rav/com) wouldn’t be a bad idea since you can raise the bar and keep him launched.
rinse, repeat
For your third party member, I used yakishi for his feral link which gives me buffs. You can also use goblin chieftain for the same thing. If you do this, try to time the feral links right before the stagger.
At 200% he will do a quake attack. It blows. Switch to sen/sen/monster when that happens to mitigate damage.
Or for those who don't like tl;dr this guy does a wonderful job explaining it, granted he's really advanced and can kill him easily in two staggers.

This was helpful, I may give it another try. But I must say, having watched the entire video if I do complete the Snow episode, it will be more for the the challenge of defeating him than story content...
Now, Lightning's episode on the other hand was quite easy by the time level 8-9 was reached and I was very satisfied with the content.
I'm playing on easy (which may or may not make a difference), and I can't beat anyone after Jihl. Not PuPu; not Ultros+Typhoon; not Gilgamesh. And it's not that I'm close to doing it, no way. I'm just way too far. Am I supposed to beat them 5-to-10 times until I get their crystal? No way, no way. And that's with maxed characters and the 160 fragments which means my weapons are at their best...
I'll have to accept I suck at this (just as I have come to accept I suck at pretty much everything in life anyway).
Here's hoping that the second version of Lightning will actually help me.
Yeah, I haven't been able to make a dent in the Ultros/Typhon battle at all. I've beaten the Lightning/Amodar battle several times over but haven't gotten their crystals yet, which is annoying. I did grind away on Omega til I got his, but buh. I really would like to get the new Lightning, but even though I can beat the new DLC, I'm having trouble 5-starring it, which is (I'm assuming) what you have to do, right? Then I was hoping to try Ultros/Typhon again, but I dunnos.
I don't know about Ultros but Gilgamesh is balls to fight. Don't feel bad about not beating him he's the toughest fight in the game. Have you been infusing your monsters? You don't need it for 99.9% of the game but for Gilgamesh, a com with 35% more attack, magic, physical resistance, 30% more health, and role resonance helps a lot.
The only reasonable way to fight that doesn't mean spending an hour to wound him to 2 mil is with a very specific set- goblin chieftan, cloudburst, and chichu (you can probably replace that with Lightning now). In fact the only way I've seen anybody beat him is with this very specific strategy- it takes me about 13-15 minutes to beat him with it.
You also might want to trade in your weapons and strength for one of the atb boosting or chainboosting weapons. Chainboosting helps a lot with gilgamesh. You can get them fighting the Ochu and Invincible in the Archetype Stepp, (yomi as well, don't remember )
I'd link you to a video but all the good videos beat him in two staggers without him ever going into enhancer mode, which if you are like me, you can't just do that.
Monsters:
COM- chichu (or lightning- you need that armor breaker)
RAV- Cloudburst- best non dlc ravanger with a feral link that en-frost and faith's your party
SEN- Goblin Chieftan, not the best SEN but has a wonderful feral link that bravery and protects your group.
Accessories and weapons are important, I put Serah with her ATB boosting weapon and Noel with his chainboosting weapon. Then I put fog resistance and grimore hat/healer emerald on Serah and pain dampener/power wrist on Noel.
The first part is decently easy, just chainboost him with Rav/rav/rav or rav/rav/sen.
Right as he is about to stagger- use goblin cheiftan's feral link to buff your party
When he is staggered, switch to sab/rav/rav. Manually select deshell, deprotect, imperil, imperil, imperil.
Once your sab starts casting, use cloudburst's feral link to complete your powerups.
Switch to rav/rav/rav for a turn to boost his chain guage higher
Switch to com/com/com and attack.
Watch out for pain on your monster. If you see that he is inflicted, quickly use an item to dispel it.
The problem is, of course, enhancer mode. That's when it gets really hard
You are going to spend a lot of time switching between med/com/sen and rav/rav/sen. I do not use rav/med/sen because without that com I tend to lose the stagger bar often without a com to stabilize the bar for me.
Sen/Sen/Sen when Gilgamesh uses divider. It's fairly easy to predict- Gilgamesh is extremely aggressive but after a flurry of attacks there will be an odd quiet moment. He will probably be using his feral link then, switch quickly.
I play sort of defensively, so I like to switch to sen/sen/sen when he does cross slash or the end of vendetta when he was this nasty wounding move. It will be easy to switch because he telegraphs these attacks and you can switch paradigms during the animation
Do everything like before- goblin chieftan before he is staggered, sab/rav/rav-> deprotect-deshell-imperill-imperill-imperill-> cloudburst's feral link->rav/rav/rav->com/com/com. Watch out for pain.
phoenix downs/phoenix bloods, potions, and remedies are good
It takes me about two stagger bars in enhancer mode to take him down.
Pupu is easier and imo, and you can experiment much more on how you want to do it.
The way I first beat him is to make sure your have a SEN in your party. Have him draw the enemies attacks as you for the flying saucer. You want to stagger the flying saucer and once you do, all the pupu's will be dazed. Sab/sab/rav the flying saucer, get its chainboost a decent amount, and then attack. You can probably try to buff your party as well.
I have a sen/sen/sen when the flying saucer is destroyed to deal with the meteors. Then I just go out an attack.
The second way to to have a wide attack- com/com/com and actually kill all the pupu's before reaching the flying saucer. This sounds like it takes more time, but I actually get better times from killing the pupus first. Once you take them out, try to stagger the flying saucer. If he summons any more pupus, just switch back to wide-com/com/com and kill them.
Yeah, I haven't been able to make a dent in the Ultros/Typhon battle at all. I've beaten the Lightning/Amodar battle several times over but haven't gotten their crystals yet, which is annoying. You guys DO have "Easy Monster Catch" and "Feral Speed II" on your monsters right?
Near as I can tell that's the best way to catch most monsters. I've done it with the Warmech-looking-guy in Vile Peaks. Stagger, beat the crap out of em a bit, then use Feral Link to finish them off...
I do have the monster crystal fragment skill turned on for sure, and I do use Feral Links a lot. I don't think you have to finish the opponent off with a Feral Link, I think it has more to do with your sync percentage (pretty sure I've read that somewhere).
