Not so much scenes. They said a lot of environments and elements had to be cut from the first back when it came out.

And because of that, they decide to make a whole new game to make people dish out their cash to pay for...is that what your saying here?

Not really. I think it's more of a refusal to admit that they made disastrous decision after disastrous decision which led to a big steaming pile of shit (13 then 14). And they think they can "fix" it. That somehow it's not really broken.

Why do you think this follow up is a not a pointless act to cover for a poorly executed game?

Because while FFXIII was indeed poorly executed, at least story-wise, it had a lot of potential. XIII-2 looks like it might actually take that potential and make something constructive of it.

And I quite enjoyed XIII, even though it was a bit of a mess, mainly thanks to the characters and the combat system. From the demo vids, it's pretty clear they're improving on at least some of the shit that was broken (lack of NPCs/towns), while keeping the stuff that worked (combat system). Can't speak for the characters yet - ngl, my enjoyment of this game will hinge quite a bit on whether it delivers to me lesbians, Lightning, and Sazh. Now that Hope has appeared in the latest trailer that's a good indication that everyone else will be making at the very least a cameo.

I will disagree that hope is an awesome character. But I will agree a part of his awesomeness makes up for kicking Snow's ass at some point in FFXIII which I have yet to reach tbh.

I always assumed XIII-2 was made for the same reason as X-2: first game sold well, engine used for first game is still relevant, it will be easy to make and not cost as much so profits will be higher, etc.

That would be a reason for them NOT to do it. No matter how much it pains all of you to admit, FFXIII was a financially successful game. Even the "all they care about is money!" accusation would make more sense here than the one you're making.

Also while I didn't like FFXIII, I did like some of the characters (obviously) and I'm interested to see what's happened with them. I'm excited to see Serah get some more character development, and hopefully this new game will be better than the last. I am a bit skeptical, but it's something you can't judge until it comes out. (well you can but XD) Honest though: I do not give a shit about Noel. Now when I play the game I'm going to end up loving him. It always works out that way.

I'm glad they're trying for a BETTER FFXIII, I just wish they were more focused on other things.

Just noticed that in the official page they state that FFXIII-2 takes place three years after the events of XIII.

That means Hope is still 17.

I want him on my team if I'm getting Serah and some kid named after Christmas. For the short time I played XIII, he was quite useful in battle. Can't say the same for his characterization though.


But I won't take Snow though, he was useless in most of the time I played with him around <__<
