Final Fantasy XIII-2

There were like 2 or 3 battles over the course of the game that I ever felt like I needed a Sentinel.

I actually used Fang as a Sentinal fairly often, and there were a couple battles late in the game where I used the Tortoise paradigm. As for Vanille being the lesser of the two evils....well, as far as my style of gameplay went, Hope was better in my preferred party. I'm not saying I liked him don't freak out :-P

Vanille's actually got a gamebreaker with Death hitting 9999 but I never used it unless I just wanted Death.

Sazh actually is a pretty decent sab when maxed out, he's got access to every spell, except the -gas. Hope is the exact opposite, he has access to every spell but they are in -gas but if you are maxed out chances are you are just turtle farming and it is completely useless. Sazh also would make an awesome Sen but he lacks reprieve (that thing that lets you survive death with 1 HP)

I felt kinda let down that Sazh is such a situational character because I wanted to use him more. I wish his stats and speed were better. :/

But he's my leader to use when I turtle farm. <3 his Blitz and his access to both slow and poison.

Party One: Sazh, Vanille, Fang

Party Two: Lightning, Hope, Snow

That's how I've gotten into playing it.

So, who's importing the game?

Is 'crystogen' a new term or was that in the original FFXIII?

While I'm on the subject of the original FFXIII:

On the Japanese 'moogle summerises FFXIII' site, on the point of the timeline for 600 years pre-FFXIII when Fang becomes Ragnarok, it says that the goddess Etro gave Vanille the power to subdue Fang and then turned them both to crystals. I don't remember that point. Was that mentioned in the original game and I missed it, or was this from some other source?

Ok. The monster crystarium looks interesting, but I really get the feeling I'm going to need a player's guide to get me anywhere in it, especially with that infusing option (much like I used XIII's guide for the weapon upgrades). Also...I really find the fact that you can accessorize your monsters with hats/bowties/etc a little...silly for my tastes, but hey, that's just me :monster:

Do we need spoilers?

All I know is that it said Etros intervened and turned Vanille and Fang into Ragnarok before their focus was complete. I had no idea it said Vanille had the power to subdue Fang.

I might actually have to read the novellas because as of now, I've read episode 1 but not zero >____>[/spoiler]

i was wondering if spoilers were really necessary lolz

I read and then listened to Zero, but was wondering if maybe that was from one of these pre-release FFXIII-2 things I've not read.

Edit; looking at it again:
the 'more detail' bit says that because Etro felt sorry for all the people who would lose their lives if Fang destroyed Cocoon, she gave Vanille the power to stop Ragnarok. But the timeline entry makes it sound like Etro descended into Vanille's body, which is. a little different that just giving power?

Well that tidbit would have been useful during the ending.

I hope they explain more about Etro's involvement in XIII-2. I'd forgive a lot of the "A WIZARD DID IT" in the ending as long as they properly say why it happened.

As far as pre-XIII-2 info is concerned. I know there is episode 1, Fragments Before- which is like episode i but just not released yet, and Rygdea videos which explains what happened to him during all the events.

I'm now inspired/reminded to go look at the FFXIII Ultimania Omega I have on a shelf, because there was something about the ending in there, I think. (A gate appearing during the ending or something.)

I read Episode i when it was scanned (now I want to get the 360 version I can't even play just because no one scanned the rest of that book as far as I've seen), but I've got the "teacher&children" and 4 Lost Reports to look through now.

By the time everyone unlocks all the classes none of them are really more useful than another. It just depends on your play style. (I.e. the Synergist spells that Sazh had vs the ones Hope had. I prefer Sazh's elemental enchantments over Hope's elemental wards)

This.

I hardly ever use Hope as a synergist if I could help it. Sazh was so much better.

Only ever used Hope if I found I needed both a constant healer and a synergist.

It decorates my shelf mostly unread :sadpanda:

Does Yaag also voice some of these Lost Report videos? I really should play through the game again on easy now. And I'm sure there was a written story for Yaag on the site before.

edit; it is yaag this is what i get for not watching them in the proper order

Honestly, I don't know if he did. I really don't care about Yaag, Rygdea was one of the few NPC's I liked. But apparently Lost Report is suppose to be both his and Yaag's story so I'm guessing they do.

Is it just me, or does Imaginary Lightning have a heavier chest than the actual Lightning? :P

I'm half listening to them right now, but it seems like Rygdea relating some documents he found from Yaag? So the voices switch between Rygdea and Yaag.

I'm sure there was some extra text thing and now I'm kicking myself for not reading it when I saw it before.

Also you can vote for those DLC outfits everyday so vote for poor underdog red hood one

The chestplate isn't bad (actually I like it), but those things on her arms and legs are terrible.

No one has translated those videos yet :sadpanda: There isn't more text aside from Episode Zero and Episode i. We were all thrilled because those Lost Reports sounded like a new novella and then we find out that they are only videos with old footage and a voiceover. The worst thing is that they will never dub it in English. I wanted to listen to ZevranYaag's voice ;______;

I don't mind the armour at all, except for the lack of function, but its fantasy. A bit of suspension of belief is required.
