Diet has a lot to do with it, but Asian people, Japanese in particular, are generally smaller than Caucasians or Africans. They may not be naturally thin, but they, generally, have slimmer builds.

Compared to the hume population of FFXII? Yes. :-/
It's sad that they pack the game with different species (the seeq, the bangaraa, the viera), but every hume is noticeably caucasian. ...Hell, there's not even a redhead.
