Thanks for the advice. I don't intend to buy this game three times though. It's PS3 and either PC or PS4, not both.

But it's possible to have multiple characters on one account, isn't it? I guess I could transfer to PC now and still get the experience of starting again whenever I want. I just wish it was a bit cheaper than 30€.

Yes you can. I have two characters on mine for instance. And yeah that's definitely on the pricey side but you have to look at it as a long term investment. Or like Rockstar screwing you out of money by prematurely ending their character transfer service for a trumped up reason. Either/ or. :monster:

Anyway, I wish you luck buddy.

I decided it wasn't worth paying Rockstar's ransom for my created character. It's not like she's gone completely, and since I just picked up a second-hand PS3 (I had only been borrowing one from a friend before) I might give her a spin later today.

It's pretty ridiculous how well GTAV continues to sell. 75 million units and counting.

I read a recent article in the Guardian about that as well. It really is quite shocking.

It would be interesting to see an analysis as to whether it is the single player world or the Online section which could be causing this.

If it is online, then what does this mean for the future of games created by Rockstar? I've recently seen a lot of fear pop up on various sites, especially with the large focus on Online over single player DLC, and now with Read Dead 2 going to have a massive Online world, people are worried that this will be the main focus for Rockstar from here on out.

Most new purchases are for the online mode, I'd wager. The reason I say that is that whenever the game's on sale, it's always the Shark Card bundles that hit the top of the sales charts.

As for the future, I think those concerns are understandable. R* must be absolutely raking in the cash from bundles and other "micro" transactions (not really that micro considering how much they cost). They have every incentive to keep updating the online mode and much less incentive to work on a new single-player GTA. I think they will do it eventually, but it'll take a while, and it'll either come with a new online mode or a significant expansion to the current one.

Has to be online, since the single player is finite, good for what, 20-30 hours of gameplay at best? You can usually see this in most games; either they have a huge replay factor (e.g. games like Diablo if you like the grind), or they have a strong online mode (most FPS games, GTA), or they're MMOs (grind + regular updates). GTA's online mode - and I haven't played much, mind you - just keeps on giving, there's always something to strive for, etc.
