It's okay hon, a majority of the male population in my school look like they've either: a)gotten run over by a bus. b) have a butt for a face. c) got the worst part of their parents' genetics d) (this is particularly directed to my ex) is just plain ugly as sin.

High school boys are NO comparable to actors. Also Digimon RPing sounds fun though admittedly I never really got into that show. As for RPing, be natural, make sure your posts are more than a paragraph long, and follow the plotline .

No problem Once you just relax and follow the RP itself (like using the posts of previous RPers to help you) then you'll be more aware of how to respond in your nest post. Sometimes RPs go completely against canon by the way so sometimes you don't even have to worry about canonical material.

And yes unnecessary drama is no fun, trust me.

Jane Austen is made of pure win it's not even funny. That girl could write a dramatic novel like no one's business. I also loooved the fact that she dealt with the social issues women of her time had to face. There was that and Austen's wittiness. Meyers --- pfft she can't write for shit. Period.

agreed. I need to read moar of her stuff than just Pride & Prejudice, which I read so long ago I barely remember the writing style. I watched the A&E/BBC adaptation a few months ago, which was win (and for bonus points closely adhered to the dialogue and plot of the original).

Too add: John Milton, John Steinback, Henry James, Jane Joyce, J.D. Salinger, Graham Greene, George Orwell, Neal Stephenson, Katherine Neville, Leo Tolstoy, Gaston Leurox, and Susan Kay (I only added the last two because of POTO to be honest),

Good choices on all of those, but I mentioned Tolstoy near the end of mine as well. Greene, Neville, Milton, Stephenson Leroux and James are on my "need to read" list; I'm not familiar with Kay. I feel Stephenson is a particularly flagrant omission on my list of stuff I haven't read yet, I'm just daunted by the size of his books. Which is the same reason I didn't start reading Pynchon until recently. Also, I haven't read Ulysses, which just makes me feel like uncultured. Though I have read a good chunk of Finnegans Wake, which is like no other work ever written in any language.

As for Austen's writing style it's witty, playful, descriptive, eloquent, and very rich in my opinion. Her command of the English language was very admirable at best.

Also . . . To the List: Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jane Eyre, and William Faulkner (especially the last guy imho).

You haven't read Milton's works yet? You should, and as soon as possible.

Susan Kay isn't popular I admit, and she's best known for being the author of Phantom - based on Leroux's Phantom of the Opera.

And oh, I forgot to add Agatha Christie on my list. And Then There Were None had always been one of my favorite childhood stories.

I have a copy of Paradise Lost & Paradise Regained on my "list of poetical works to read when I can be arsed with poetry again" shelf, along with the Iliad and the Aeneid, which I've also never read. I also need to read Dante's Purgatorio and Paradiso, and I haven't read the Odyssey in like ten years so I should probably revisit that as well.

William Blake is probably my favourite poet, fwiw. Well apart from Shakespeare.
