If you take yourself to Wall Market and go to the Honey Bee Inn, you can speak to a Shinra guard blocking your way.

You'll soon find out that an under-regulated gathering of Soldiers in the slums are, for the rest of Wall Market's existence, raping the female employees and keeping them as sex slaves and objects to be humiliated, deprived, and violated.

I never got that implication. I just figured the Shinra soldiers monopolized the services of the Inn so they can get all the girls for themselves (who still would get paid), not that they were violently raping the occupants.

I always took it as the Shinra guys thinking 'fuck it, the worlds going to end anyway, might as well enjoy ourselves' Especially as by then Heidegger, Scarlet and Rufus were dead. Not like they could get in trouble for goofing off.

I didn't really think there was anything rapey about it. It was made clear that the Honeybee had been somewhere the Shinra execs went, so I figure the Soldiers and MP's just wanted their chance. As for the guy standing guard outside, I'm guessing that at the end of the world there would be 100's of virgin guys wanting to pop their cherry so someone had to stand guard to prevent that

Well, that always gave me the willies, especially if Cloud doesn't get chosen by Corneo and then you have to play through the scenario where you're fending them all off. That made me think that they were going to gang rape them, and I think that part has the stronger implication of that than the Shinra forces simply being at Honeybee Inn.

I'm in agreement with the above comments, they always made it seem as if the shinRa personnel were just using the facilities themselves.

I also agree with Mog and Octo, but even that part you quoted, Avec, has never implied rape to me. The girls who visit the Don's mansion know what they're getting into. Whether they end up having sex with him or his lackeys is probably moot. Though I'm not sure if they get paid or not if they aren't chosen.

Anyway sorry to digress a bit, but I just wanna ask: since Tifa went there on her own without the slightest idea that Cloud would show up (and I don't think she has a back up from AVALANCHE either), did she seriously think she wouldn't get caught? And that she could take on those guys by herself if ever she was? What are your thoughts on this?

You're right, it does seem as though she didn't have any backup from AVALANCHE. I figure she was simply hoping to get a private audience with Corneo (especially considering she dressed the part), figuring that she could rely on her strength to overpower him once they were alone behind locked doors. Then she could question him, and because she's freaking martial arts goddess Tifa, was probably counting on being able to either sneak her way or fight her way out after procuring the info she wanted.

Well...I would venture to say that she almost certainly could take all those guys by herself. The issue was more that she needed information and was worried about just how long (and how far) she'd have to play along to get it.

You are suggesting something that there is no information on. Its possible, yes, but there is no evidence, so they're innocent until proven guilty.

I don't think there needs to be information to support it. We've been shown countless times how low-tier Shinra employees and soldiers act, including how they treat women. There's a guard blocking the door. There's low-tier Shinra soldiers/employees EXCLUSIVELY inside of the building, for sex. The FFVII social sphere is realistic enough that we can make short predictions and affirmations based on the social queues put off by the established personalities.

I literally do not understand how you equate 'blocking the door so they can have the women for themselves' to 'brutal rapefest'. For all we know the women prefer the patronage of the Shinra soldiers. Not only do well paid soldiers soliticing brothels have occured throughout history, but prostitutes actually PREFER soldiers because of their reliable paychecks, rather than the desperate bums who usually reside in their neighborhoods. It's QUITE a stretch to assume that there's a gaggle of Shinra soldiers who prefer raping prostitutes to mutual paying for consenting sex.

The guy outside seemed to be giving more of a mischievious 'we're having a fucking blast here!' than the 'hehehe we're brutally raping everyone inside' vibe.
