Yeah I'd think so. But I just meant they might not make it their main focus if it's mainly just explorable in the first half of the first chapter.
They might focus on like Junon, Gold Saucer and Wutai instead. All potentially quite huge areas.

Part of what I loved about this game is how many interesting locations there were. Such a great and varied world.

I can imagine there would be inaccessable areas until later. Also, other areas would change or disappear due to changes during the game's storyline.

Being jettisoned from Midgar seems to happen just at the right time. You get to know a few slum neighbourhoods, face the city’s dangers above, below, and even between the Plate. You assault the heart of the city, but the urgency of Sephiroth and the crisis for the Planet urge you forward, beyond Midgar.

I wonder, if you could “100%” the city before heading to Shinra HQ... how would that feel?

I’m of the same mind. Getting the Midgar Key and re-exploring the slums, Tifa’s final weapon etc. happens during the game’s true lull: the huge materia missions. If Midgar were to be expanded, IMO that’s the time to do it... but that won’t be in Episode 1.

Edit: was bored made a comic

I assume those are quest markers on a Midgar map and not pepperoni on a pizza, as my hungry brain first thought.

Lol. The Midgar Plate does look like a giant pizza at first glance. Even the people IN the game world of Final Fantasy think it resembles to a pizza.

I honestly don't mind Midgar not being fully explorable? I hope the design it bigger ofc, but in a way where it doesn't feel like you've seen the entire city.
I agree. A little bit of suggestion, implication, a little tact, a bit of AHTIS-TA-REE goes a long way in creating a psychological effect on the player. I don't want Midgar to be something I can 'conquer'

I don’t necessarily agree with the sentiment with the Remake “taking too long”

We’ve been following since almost the very start of development, it’s only 4.5 years ish of dev. It’s been delayed once already though ?

On the topic of DLC characters - why would they do that? Like others have said Cid and Cait Sith are essential to the plot. Yuffie and Vincent also have a role to play, moreso Vincent.

Finally I agree with them possible doing a FF12 Rabanastre situation where you feel like you explored a large amount but still feeling there is much that we don’t see in-game

There's no way it's gonna be fully explorable. It's absolutely massive. It's impossible to do that well. The only way is like Assassin's Creed has with its various cities, just massively copy and paste so every other street looks kinda the same.
That would be a terrible approach in a Final Fantasy game. Their towns and cities have so much more character to them.

Yeah but the scene at the end of disc 2 has you sky dive into Midgar because there's no other way in. That would somewhat ruin the action!
Hmm you're right, but it wouldn't be hard to slightly alter it. Basically you'd still have a way to sneak into there pre-Midgar raid, but then have Midgar go under real lockdown forcing the party to parachute. Midgar being inaccessible to the outer world under normal circumstances isn't such a great idea tbh.

In the OG, you can get the Midgar Key and visit Sector 5, 6, and Wall Market before the parachute. The Disc 2 finale returns you to the Sector 8 Plate (now scaffolded thanks to the Sister Ray) and Shinra HQ (if you go off the beaten path).

Oh hell yes!!!! Finally more Final Fantasy VII Remake!!! And more to come in June! So yes, it WILL be at E3 no doubt about it! Can’t freaking wait. It looks amazing. It was a very short teaser, but at this point we will all take what we can get. Omg. Soooo excited!!!

I wanted to make a thread because this deserves one of it’s own but the teaser/trailer hasn’t released yet by itself!
