How do you/did you find Aerith?

I think the reason there's few TsengxAerith shippers is that Tseng has a small part in FF7 and there was very tiny development in his feeligns for her and none (as far as I can tell) from her to him.

That dosen't explain the obscene amount of SephirothxCloud or CloudxVinny ships, etc. but then people in general are kinda creepy!

Which makes me wonder a hell lot about this fandom. There are hints that Tseng liked Aerith (Reno and Rude even talked about it), and it seemed they had some special bond (Tseng and Aerith). Even a small part can become bigger in a fandom, but very few are touching that part. And I mean VERY few. :@

I LOVE TSERITH. :rage: I loved the whole scene between he and Zack... they were like, both jealous of one another. xD Zack especially with his "whaaatver" line.

THANK YOU. :reptar: And yes, I noticed that too. :awesome: I was like "okay, with these hints, there should some fanarts or something". But there were NONE. DDDX

There were lots of potential Aerith pairings, but those which I find might be cute don't have that many fans. DX

Ultimania says Tseng and Aerith also have a special bond. Awr.

Oh, because in the English version it goes something like this:

Tseng: Go ahead and play with Aerith as much as you like.
Zack: Play? I'm not playing, this is important SOLDIER business. I'm protecting her!
Thief: Hey mister I heard you were building Aerith a flower wagon!
Tseng: *walks away amused*
Zack: *facepalms*

Or something similar to that. :/

What does the little thief boy say in the Japanese version?

"it's not what you think" I think Zack said sth like that too when the wagie thing was revealed :awesome: such a usual reaction lol

but I think xAerith was refering to the scene before Tseng and Zack leave for Modeoheim, right? O.o

Aerith does show some spunk in Crisis Core! I remember she shoots Zack down a little after he saves her from monsters in the slums (right after telling him she feels safe with him!).

I always thought that maybe she wasn't really ungrateful for the flower wagons - she was just being "cutely demanding", as (teenage) girls are usually in their (first) relationships... Plus, maybe she wanted to spend more time with Zack?

I thought the Aerith from Crisis Core progressed fairly naturally to the Aerith from Final Fantasy VII, considering the years in between.

What I did find a bit strange was this: if she sensed Mr Gainsborough returning to the Lifestream, did she (or why didn't she) sense Zack returning to the Lifestream?

She did sense Zack. I believe the ending of Crisis Core made that quite clear.

Yup, I thought so too... But doesn't it seem, in Final Fantasy VII, that she thought he'd gotten himself another girlfriend and was just staying away from her?

If that's the case, then that's some major denial... :awesome:

Well, that's probably what it is, denial. Or just not wanting to be completely reliant on her powers, since she never saw it herself.

Yes, it's very apparent that it's denial. She even said their relationship was no big deal, when obviously it was. She sincerely loved him, still wears the ribbon and attire that relate to him, still sells flowers because of him, etc.

Most of all, saw Zack within Cloud. I highly doubt she really believes he ran away with another woman.

ForceStealer

Well that may have been what she thought in the 4 years between when she last heard from him and when she sensed his death.

Hm, that's true, though I highly doubt that too. Only because in her last letter to him, it didn't seem that way. She's wearing the pink ribbon and dress also.

I'm getting total de ja vu... didn't this discussion happen in another thread? Lol. I was just about to say,
"Word of Soldiers KIA/MIA gets around fast, and since Aerith knows Tseng she had to know that wasn't the case. Unless Tseng lied to her."

Not to mention that Kunsel was in contact with Aerith too.

Exactly, both through those avenues, and her spider-sense, she knew he wasn't dead when they said he was. So she could still have easily thought he hooked up with someone else, and continued to think that in denial. As she says, she knew he was a ladies' man.

I think that people in general don't necessarily go with the "cute" pair so much as either a very obvious pairing or a pairing that's so wacky it gets attention. This sadly means that a lot of really cute pairings are left on the wayside simply because they ain't outrageous enough to garner a lot of attention.

So Aerith knows Zack is dead, just denying it? I was always under the impression that she legitimately didn't know he was gone, the ending was just an 'aww, look at Aerith' moment...

Then why is she looking depressed and worried the moment Zack got hit with the fatal wound? And also gasping in shock?

I always wondered: how did she know this? What ladies did she ever see/hear about him flirting with? Did she confuse Cloud for a girl or something? :awesome: Or did she just assume he was a player based on his "smoothtalk", playful behaviour, etc? Or did she construct the idea as a psychological defense against the pain his absence caused her? Or is the answer there is no answer? :monster:

Perhaps it's possible that she might've just sensed something bad happened to him (or someone)? After all, he didn't die right at that moment, so it couldn't have been him actually returning to the Lifestream that triggered that reaction...

Um, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say - maybe at that very moment Zack was thinking of her with regret, and that was a powerful feeling... And... uh... maybe.. the creators... wanted us to believe... that Aerith felt that... *gives up*

IT WAS A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE.

Never mind.

Well, if it helps any, this is what Zack's character profile had to say:
“A guy who loves girls a lot” - That was what Aerith reflected on in FFVII, that Zack had a flirtatious streak, and was experienced in the treatment of the fairer sex. In BC, he gave compliments enough to set one’s teeth on edge to a female Turk member who was together with him on the same mission. As expected, there was a scene whereby he invited Cissnei, a young lady from the Turks, to a meal in CC. As a result of being able to surmise everything from each small deed, Aerith, who was in love with Zack, might perhaps have been jealous many times seeing all that…

*ears perk up at Tseris reference* XP

It's a bit more than hints, there are a few places that say Tseng had definite feels for Aerith... *looks for her ultimania translations of his page*

"He has special feelings for Aerith, who he has pursued for many years. Even while opposing her, he is concerned for her safety."

And she cares about him too. Even after everything he did she's crying while he's hurt and says he knows her better than most people.

But, back on topic, I liked Aerith in CC. I remember what I was like as a young teenager, and if I try hard enough can pinpoint events or people that helped me become who I am today. That's how I see her in CC, as a girl who because of what's being shown here will become the girl we know and love in FFVII.

I've always been a Tserith fan. It's the complexity of their relationship that I'm drawn to. It's kind of sweet that he developed a softspot for the girl he had been watching over the years. And I see Aerith being drawn to him as well. Like she said, there were only a handful of people that knew her well. I see her resentment towards him gradually fading and her affection growing as the years progressed. It's too bad there wasn't any dialogue between them in cc.

I liked how they portrayed Aerith in CC, gentle, charming, sweet and a bit naive. I only wish there were more in depth conversations between her and Zack and not just simple and cute cutscenes. One of my favorite parts was during their first date in the park where Aerith was describing her fear of SOLDIER and mentioned her fear of the sky, and they mentioned it again in a different scene, but they never explained where this fear of the sky came from. I'm guessing it's because of how Jenova came to Gaia. I don't know, I just expected a bit more depth to her character. In some ways it shows how she changed since her teenage years since in FFVII she seems more outspoken and brash. Maybe some of Zack's personality rubbed off on her.

That's kind of a good point, actually. But still, the way he flirted with her was so blatant and shameless, she must have just figured he was always like that.

Gezz, with all your Tseris fans... you'd think in my absence the club wouldn't have died. :P

Maybe Tseng told her things... as much of a friend he was to Zack, I could see him being a bit sneaky. :P

Read My Mind
I think a lot of the disparity between the idea of Zack as a ladies man and Zack in CC is that FF7 implied that Zack cheated on Aerith, while CC shows that Zack, though very much a flirt, seems to be pretty faithful to Aerith.

Then again, there really wasn't a moment that we saw that he really could have chosen to cheat on her. Though personally I was disappointed that they didn't develop the whole "ladies man" angle further in his interactions with Cissnei. Beyond some banter I don't think it really goes very far.

So ultimately it just comes down to Zack being a bit of a flirt and Aerith using that to tell herself he ran off with some girl instead of being murdered.

Oh yeah, forgot about that quote; thanks for that. I guess that makes sense. Still, why would she be so certain if it was just an inference? Guess it must have been a combination of inference and psychological defense, as some of you have postulated.

True dis. He is a Turk, after all - he gets paid to be shady. :monster:

Besides, all's fair in love and war :monster:

She's not really certain of anything. Even his death, she's spent a lot of time pushing that idea down inside of her. When you see his parents, she runs out of the house because it's bringing the truth back to light. She's remembering he did die, not run off with someone, but that idea is just too painful for her.
