General plotline:
According to the Game Informer preview, inFamous follows the story of Cole, a resident of a fictional Empire City. At the start of the game, an explosion rips apart six city blocks, leaving behind a crater and Cole as the only survivor. The explosion has granted Cole several electricity-based powers, but he falls into unconsciousness, waking up two weeks later to find that Empire City has fallen into chaos; without police, gangs have taken over areas of the city, and a plague has infected many of the residents causing the city to be quarantined by the government. It is revealed by "The Voice of Survival", a surviving disk jockey that broadcasts across the city, that Cole was the cause of the explosion, and thus sets the population of Empire City against him. Cole must come to terms with his powers, and opt to help those in need or simply survive on his own, facing off against larger threats that have manifested in the city due to the explosion and its aftermath.
According to Fox, the team wanted to have Cole as a "kind of an everyman", such that they could then "get into the headspace of what it would be like to be a real human being who has been granted these exceptional abilities". While Cole is the main playable character, he is joined by two friends; Zeke, a conspiracy theorist and survivalist who becomes jealous of Cole's powers, and Trish, Cole's ex-girlfriend and medical student who resents him but still helps in treating the injured, a "Lois Lane with syringes" as stated by Sucker Punch.

Seems like good spin on mirrors edge tbh, from the information released it seems that they had alot of games infuencing this one.
On the first aspect they wanted to give players the ability to free roam as much as possible, allowing you to stay the normal curse of misions and also diverse from them taking out snipers from rooftops and such.
The abilities will also be affected by the nature of Cole, you decide the course of the gameplay and as a result cole becomes good or bad and thus affects the ending.
All round its a ps3 exclusive but seems to be a good buy.

out friday.

When I buy my PS3 this Christmas, this will be one of the first games I'll probably be getting with it.

Not for PC means it has to be very good if I have to buy it. The trailer looks a bit ghey (with too much slow-motion / bullet time imho). I'm more looking forward to that other one, what's it called? With the mutant thingies. Same game, pretty much, but that one looks more awesome.

No, just no.

The only similarities between Infamous and prototype is that they're open world games.

except one is pretty much a monster willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, while the other is a normal dood, who can choose to be good or evil.

Same game my ass, stfu.

A player choosing to be good or evil is like zzzzzzz, boring and done before, :monster:. As is bullet time, btw, although it's still a win addition to some games.

Cthulhu can make up reasons all he wants, the only reason he really wants prototype is because it satisfies his tentacle fetish :monster:

Anyway, I actually paid very little attention to inFamous, but the more see, the more I like. Can't wait to check it out.

At first I was interested in Prototype and didn't care about this game, and now it's pretty much become the other way around lol. The demo of this game was pretty sick, and I'll prolly be getting it around day one. Moreso for the Uncharted 2 beta, but ya know...

Saw an ad for this before the Star Trek film. Looks awesome tbh. If I owned a PS3 I'd definitely pick it up.
