SPOILERS Is Sonon's role in the remake over?

I mean, I did say earlier "aside from Zack and/or Biggs, which I think are two instances clearly meant to be more of a set up for something more than just them being "alive," happily ever after."

Those two remain to be seen in the context of the Remake, because they literally are an unresolved mystery/anomaly with more to it than that. Zack and Biggs are "alive" however there's clearly some sort of caveat to it.

He was saved by the Whispers using cure magic

How do we know it was cure magic though? Couldn't it just as easily been revive magic?

Now, if it's stated in an Ultimania that "cure" was used on Barret, I retract my statement. Based on what I saw in game though, I interpreted that scene as Sephiroth killed him, and the whispers revived him.

Both. We see Nero's darkness literally dissolve and vaporize DG SOLDIERs right in front of our eyes.

So then my question becomes, does that mean something can't be different with Sonon? I didn't play the DLC, but I did watch it on youtube. It's not shown if he vaporizes like the DG soldiers.
