So with the KupoCast out today, Toronto is officially the start of the 2nd gen KupoCon events. 50 more Tri-Pom cards are officially in the works... and it looks like the west coast hasn't been forgotten.

Hopefully a west coast event would be somewhere in SoCal, as I can stay with a friend and drag him to this event as well. Although I would LOVE for them to come back to the east coast... Preferably Atlanta... :hohum:

Definitely need to start saving up again for whatever event I decide to go to. Need to start squirreling away, bit by bit.

lith makes a valid point. I've actually chosen not to attend certain awes0me events on account of them being in Los Angeles.

There are also convention center in Riverside and Anaheim. *cough*muchclosertome*cough*
Or if it's going to be in a big city, may as well make it Vegas. :wackymonster:

I wouldn't mind going to Seattle though because Flare & Mog and also because rain and coffee. :monster:

Also I'm not sure where to put this or if I should talk to Red about it...

I'm not sure if this was already done at Kupocon this year, but just in case it wasn't done...

I was thinking...you know how when you go to Disney World, you get a little guest book and have all the characters sign it for you? (It's just a small little book with blank pages so that the Disney characters can sign the pages for you). Would it be possibru to do something similar for the upcoming KupoCon events? That way attendees could have their friends sign their little autograph book and it would be a nice little sentimental piece of loot. :awesome:

Also, is there a fund raising thing or money pool to make things like this possible?

I like this! There was a like quest log book we were all given that we used for different events and getting our cards and everything, and there was a page in there that you could get the celebs to sign if you hadn't brought something specific, so I'm sure it would be really easy for them to add a couple of pages in there? It would be so cute to get a little signature from everyone you meet and a good way to exchange contact deets with all the new friends you make too <3

The very back page of the Quest Logs have a section for "Notes & Signatures". I recall at The Big Pom a few of us here using it to get everyone from TLS to sign it. It can span 3 pages.

Do you mean something whereby a pot of money can be divided among members hoping to attend (to help cover accommodation & travel costs)?

Money pool thing is a thing I've been thinking about; I don't think I'm the kinda guy to organize much of anything (I get distracted by squirrels like five minutes after thinking of something), but, what I thought up at the time is:

* Affluent people pay for costs of people coming over
* Said people and others do a thing to recover the monies; raise money, do / sell fanart (there was a fanart / shop section at the UK event), etc
* if they recover the monies, fine; if they don't, fine; if they recover money + profit, the affluents get a beer and whoever comes over keeps the rest, but I don't think this is a viable scenario

either way, raising money in whatever way would be a big effort, and you'd probably need a network of thousands, with hundreds donating a bit of monies in whatever way.

If it IS in California, I hope to god it's in San Diego. It has great weather year round. And I've already come up with a name you can use! KupoCon: Pom Diego. :neo: San Diego also has a lot of nice touristy stuffs that you can go to, free of charge. Unfortunately, I can't get into the zoo for free anymore because my military ID has long since expired. :(

I do like the guest book idea; perhaps the next version of the KupoCon program could have a few extra pages at the back of it for this purpose?

Depending on where this event is at on the West Coast and how far away the date is I may sign myself up to work this one. :D

I was thinking of a money pool to invest in things like matching T-Shirts, pins, booklets, etc.

Some things, though, in regards to a money pool:

Purchasing airline tickets, bus passes etc. might not be feasible (or fair). Because we'd have people coming from different places and a ticket for one person might be a few hundred dollars whereas it'd be lots of hundies for another. Maybe we could create a reimbursement cap? Personally I think it would make more sense to use pooled monies to pay for hotel rooms and food (as a travel expense) because those are the sorts of things that can be distributed evenly / shared by all TLS attendees.

I'm thinking of this as though I were organizing an event at work and I can see there being lots of hohumming if things aren't split up evenly. :monster:

If the American one is planned between January and March next year, I'm seriously considering putting money and holiday time aside for this.

We should do a TLS lottery syndicate. By which I mean we should all buy tickets in our various countries with an agreement to fund future meetups if anyone wins. :P
