You know, I just watched Godzilla X Megaguiras again the other day, which gives me some thoughts on things I hope to see in this movie. While it was batshit B-movie campy in spots, like most rubber suit kaiju movies tend to be even if they aim to be dead serious, there were some really good bits mixed in there. The suit actor for Godzilla and the head controllers did an excellent job getting Godzilla to act in that flick. The body language they used stuck close with a lot of what we see in any G-movie where he doesn't act like a dude with a tail while making it more reactive somehow. You could just watch the way he moved his head and such and get a definite sense that in this continuity Megaguiras was the first giant monster he'd ever seen besides himself. When he got knocked over and pulled himself up, or missed repeatedly when he tried to catch his speedy opponent, you could see the frustration building in the shoulders, the angle of the neck, even the way the tail lashed. Little details like that that make the monster feel alive and real, whether its a dude in a suit or an all CG model or a freaking hand puppet, make me happy. It might not effect whether the plot makes sense, or if everything is filmed and scored properly, but I still hope they manage it.
