I was honestly a fan of 1998's godzilla film, and even though it was negative in terms of buzz, it lured me into the classic ones and made me see some of the series' highlights till Final Wars. Final Wars was enjoyable for me and I'm glad they invested time to revive the franchise in this manner, I hope it won't cock up like the 1998 one.

Also X, please send? :')

I enjoy the '98 Godzilla film, but I also liked that Toho did officially adopt the kaiju as Zilla. Godzilla 2000 was a fun film, too (that I got to see in theaters). I'm really just excited to see Godzilla properly given a new debut back into the theaters.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, SENT TO EVERYONE (even though I had to use the Admin CP to look up your e-mail, ya slacker). :awesomonster:

I've seen it.

Reminded me of Cloverfield except with Godzilla. :P
Audience cheering kinda broke the mood. :p

But here, godzilla's face is actually seen. We never get to see clover's. Then again, I'm sure Godzilla would smash clover's face in as it is infact still a child compared to his awesome power.

You totally see the Cloverfield Monster's face in Central Park.

And yes, for everyone not aware, this isn't footage from any of the two trailers that was shown. It's from a walk-through tour thing called the "Godzilla Encounter" that ended with everyone in a building, looking out during the supposed Godzilla attack, and they had lots of other Godzilla-related stuff all over.

This has me in the mood to watch the 1998 Godzilla. I hate to say it, but the outdated special effects of Japanese films like this are a real turn off. Stop using a guy in a suit and motionless miniatures. Theres too much nostalgia and tradition to the way they're made. Japanese film makers could make something incredible

Thank you so much for sending that over X, that was awesome (even if the people cheering and clapping did sorta spoil the moment a bit). A thought that struck me, the roars you hear in that clip are different from what you usually hear in a Godzilla film. They don't sound outright angry or challenging, as G tends to when he makes noise. They sound more... inquisitive, maybe? And frustrated? Anyone else having these sorts of thoughts or is that just me?

Anytime (admittedly, I would've been doing the same thing, so it didn't distract me at all). I would agree with you about his roar though. He's certainly not challenging or angry here. It's just his classic roar in the form of something more akin to just roaring while wandering. It's not directed AT something. Kinda just like when my cat wanders and makes meow-talking noises because it's quiet.

Godzilla has often shown a proclivity for "talking to himself" as it were. Like in Godzilla 84/85, you can hear him kinda grumbling/growling somewhat quietly almost everywhere he goes, especially when he first attacks the reactor. I kinda figured it for a "I'm hungry, where's all the damn food?" kinda sound. This set of roars almost had a quality of... I dunno, like he was looking for something and A.) wondering where it was and B.) frustrated he hasn't found it yet. But I'm probably reading too much into that.

If hoping this film succeeds, please grant us a sequel with this kind of violence and gore:

The trend these days is introducing your archnemesis in the sequel so I've heard. I won't be surprised if King Ghidorah will be in the sequel. Btw guys who do you consider Godzilla's archnemesis? Destroyah? Biollante? Mothra? King Ghidorah? or (lol) Zilla from the 1998 Emmerich version?

Godzilla's arch is almost unquestionably Ghidorah in some iteration (King/Mecha-King/Kaiser). He's essentially got the firepower of Godzilla but with 3 heads, he's bigger, and he can fly like Mothra, and in addition to that, he's not a creature of Earth, and Godzilla is always a force of nature tied to the Earth in some way, so he's about as much of the antithesis of Godzilla as you get, and he's always showing back up, not to mention that he's the big bad in Final Wars, which pretty much seals it.

I'd have to agree with that assessment, X. I'm inclined to wonder, though -- is Ghidorah supposed to be dead now?

I know continuity can be a little hard to place with some of the films, and there's disagreement about exactly when "Destroy All Monsters" takes place, but whether you go by that or "Final Wars," isn't Godzilla's great three-headed adversary currently dead?
