I hate every single aspect of Final Fantasy XIII-2 except the battle system which I derped through.

Should've just said this. :(

Playing on mute is kinda rude to the game and its voice actors/composers if you ask me. Playing a "role" is typical of MOST RPGs (hence the term ROLE playing game), so being whiny about what characters you play as is rather...I dunno...lame. It's not all about who you pick it's about how you play and progress and develop the character IN THE STORY (but if you derp through the story that defeats the purpose...).

If you just play action games or fighting games and only care about the action, you should stick with those...playing an RPG just for action is like playing Metal Gear for the guns and not the stealth...

How is it rude? I still bought the damn game. And are you telling me that you'd have enjoyed Final Fantasy VII if you played as Yuffie and Cait Sith the whole time?

Re. Lightning's outfit - basically my biggest problems with the outfit is that I think it has a stupid-looking profile and in terms of design is basically as non-functional as it gets, the hip-windows from XIII-2 amped up to eleven despite passing off as armour
And also that the visual appeal of it is basically the designers picking off low-hanging fruit that isn't all that necessary for the character's image but w/e

Different strokes, different folks, etc. Also yay dresspheres :monster:

How many hours do you think voice actors put in to a game compared to you playing the game itself?

How many hours do you think music composers put in to a game?

Consider the work and effort and love they put in.

And you can sell it just as easily. That's the problem with gamers nowadays, they game once and dump a game. Too many options for them, not enough gratitude.

I played as Yuffie and I enjoy her Limit Breaks quite a bit, she's great in the back row.

I played as Cait and though he's a challenge he can be fun as an HP tank if you use him right, he has powerful Dice too if you know how to use them.

Don't know if anyone have touched upon this, but in FFXIV:RR we get to know how Lightning feels about working for the gods, I guess she's there after the events in XIII-2?.
And she sais she kinda is forced to do it, is willing to, but on her own terms. Think it kinda means she needs to take advantage of the gods powers but dont want to obey them? I thought it was pretty cool to know she wont lick some gods boots this game anyways :P

I mute the games I play sometimes; usually when I'm tired of hearing the music. I don't think it's rude at all. We bought the game, we paid our dues, now if the music is too much at times, we have the choice to mute and listen to something else. *shrugs* As RB said though, "different strokes..."

I mute FFXIV, and that has friggin Uematsu in it. Everyone plays differently.

That said, I think the VA in XIII-2 is actually really good. Sometimes the talent is the only thing that actually saves a scene from a hammy line of which there are many. I like they music as well, but XIII-2 is a mixed bag, with really good ones and some pretty lol worthy as well.

I played as Yuffie and I enjoy her Limit Breaks quite a bit, she's great in the back row.
Oh, I often used Yuffie too. Good limit breaks, some decent weapons.

The chest piece especially looking awkward at times. The most annoying about it for me isn't just that I think it's terrible looking, it's that I see how it can be salvaged, there are some really neat ideas in there and if they dialed back it could be awesome. It's that almost thing that nags in the back of my head.

Her trip to Eorzea happens between XIII-2 and LR, Bhuni sent her there.

Because of cross promotion. But from what I remember, she doesn't know why or how, but if she's going to be forced to fight she will.

I think it's canon, mostly because Yoshi P said he would try to make it have sense. I was talking about it with someone in the fate yesterday and maybe getting something for when FFX HD drops. I think he suggested that he might try and have more cameos.

So, her appearance in A Realm Reborn is canon? Why is she there?

Bhuni is testing her

I’m beginning to understand the reason I was sent to this place: I’m being tested.

Someone woke me up to see how much fight I had left…

I always seem to be at the mercy of of some power or fate I can’t control. In fact, I’m probably here as part of an insane god’s trial.

To be tested and tempered like some unthinking weapon, so that I might be ready to fight…

Who sells games? They depreciate by quite a bit I thought.

80% of the games I play are for the SNES, PS1 or PS2. I'm very grateful for those truly great games. For modern stuff, not so much. I was grateful for FFX and Mass Effect. Had no complaints about those despite the imperfections.

I played as Yuffie and I enjoy her Limit Breaks quite a bit, she's great in the back row.

Now who only cares about the battles. I thought you cared about developing the characters and all that jazz. Where does Yuffie go? How do Serah and Noel develop? >_>

ForceStealer

Double Growth
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times. Character exploration is every bit as valid as character development. And Noel was explored pretty well, in my opinion.

@Splintered: Darksyde Phil or DSP is one of the worst Let's Play ___ gamers on Youtube, that's what Baratheon was referring to. Refer to my earlier post link on the WRONG way to play Metal Gear Solid.

@Vespa: You can't develop characters unless you USE them. That's typical of most RPGs. The only time that rule is bent is in FFXIII itself where you get Crystarium points even if you don't use certain party members. In FFVII if Cait or Yuffie are in your party, they give certain reactions to cutscenes an events...and it gives a refreshing spin on things.

Try putting Cait in situations where he has to deal with the Turks and you might find he has interesting reactions, for example.

This is also why I prefer games with separate EXP tracks (regimens?) for each individual character so you can explore everyone at your leasure.

@Arianna: I can understand switching to training music if you're grinding or practicing in a game...but unless it's your umpteenth playthrough and you know what you're doing...I dunno, it bugs me. Especially if people just speed through a game on their first run without understanding the story or savoring the scenery and exploring it and enjoying the mood that was initially created. Anyone who doesn't bother to explore a game's environment annoys me I think.

@Kuja9001: How come that line from Lightning sounds like something out of Evil Dead / Army of Darkness, lol?

Darksyde Phil's Let's Play of Final Fantasy XIII was very entertaining if you ask me. He sucks at playing it or anything else I've seen him try, and is a horrible human being no doubt but he's not even close to being the worst LPer.

As long as someone is playing the game and enjoying the fact that they're doing so, even if they have to turn down the music to enjoy it more, who cares how they're playing it? Don't be annoyed by the way other people play/enjoy their games, just sit back and take in the games you play however you so desire!

I agree, the first time or few times through, I play completely concentrating on the game - music, story, etc. When I've played enough (as you said, grinding or I know the storyline/music tracks), I sometimes just go with my own music, or the news, or what suits my fancy.

It's not just that though...

It's when people herpderp through a game and then complain about not enjoying it. :wallbanger:

You'd enjoy it if you didn't rush through it or ignore things.

I love when they complain about not understanding anything after blowing through the game stupidly fast.

you wait what what the fuck
Unless I need complete focus in dungeons, I always mute it. Sorry Uematsu. Instead in the background, I'm either youtubing 1> trash television (eg Kitchen Nightmares/ To Catch a Predator) or 2> random and possibly unreliable documentaries (eg drug cartels, sex trafficking, Nigerian conflict).

The music is nice but I can't keep on it for too long.
