Probably. Which is kind of sad because a lot of the changes seemed unneccessary. My guess is they just wanted Tifa to be as close to whoever the model she was based of. They probably did a lot of small changes and cut little bits of corners so they could produce it faster (it was delayed, like, a year right?) and help ease the budget or strain. It is one of the reasons why Red doesn't appear in a lot of the scenes, it was too tedious to cg him.

What I never understood is why they changed her style, not the whole "cut it short" but why they have her hair framing both sides of her face when usually it's swept behind her ear on one side. Her style is normal in the concept arts and in KH, but not in AC/C, even her flashbacks changed her hair style.

It's pure speculation, sure, but it could make sense. I really don't see the big deal in changing Tifa's eye color anyway. From red to brown it's not that big of a leap, imho.

Completely changing a character's visual identity IS a big leap. And brown is a very different color from red, durr.

And the eye color thing is still a stupid reason. Why do so many people have blue eyes? Shouldn't Cloud be the only one so he stands out more?

I remember Nomura saying that he wanted the characters to look older in AC/C and show they'd changed and he did that, for example with Cloud by changing his hair so that he had less of a spike at the front. It seems he did the same with Tifa but just moved some of her hair forward.

Also, her face looks quite different in CoD, almost goofy. But I guess they all do.
