When you see this movie, kids will believe one day that these turtles do exist, when we’re done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race, and they’re going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.

That's as may be, but it's not like he's obligated to keep filming such crap. Given the shitloads of money his films have made at the box office, it's reasonable to conclude that he could easily choose to film better scripts if he had any desire to do so. So it's reasonable to conclude that he actually thinks this kind of crap is worth filming.

Besides, listen to his comments as quoted in the OP. He's completely clueless.

Yeah, you don't have to be the writer of a terrible script in order to be responsible for a terrible movie. As the director he could make or break a script.

This is the story of Battlefield Earth(or whatever it is), isn't it? It got changed drastically from the original scrip yet the original writer was still credited for it so that he could at least get paid. lol
