Mideel
Well, this is it.
Mideel is the last town that the player visits in FFVII, and it isn't especially significant on its own, a small little island community that depends on its close proximity to the Lifestream to thrive. Not counting Chocobo's, this town is only reachable by airship for the player, and thus is a logical stop on the search for Cloud. Lo and behold, Cloud is here, and thus the shit hits the fan. We all know what happens next, so I'll skip the recap.
One funny thing that gets me, is that damn door in the Weapons shop. How many of you got that Cursed Ring that you get for hopping around town looking for the 'key' to a door that isn't really a door? What kinda shit is that, man! That's messed up! I can tell Square was bored when they thought this up. Either way though, it's an amusing little thing to do while you're passing time as Cid/Tifa during Cloud's catatonia. Did you managed to tickle the baby Chocobo for the Contain materia?
Also how many of you caught the Xenogears reference here? Extra points if you did. Besides all that, though, this town is notable for the trip into Cloud's mind and him finally clearing up his fucking issues. Cloud finally becomes 'Cloud' for real after this, and it's only a shame that the game doesn't continue to go on longer after that, I would have liked to see more of Cloud being himself.
Other than that, though, that's really it for this town. It ends up being completely blown to splinters, and it basically turns into a hole in the ground. For shame.
I held off on this for a long time because I didn't know how to end it, but everything's gotta end sometime. I'm really glad I did this with you guys, and I really hope you guys enjoyed it. I'll be more than happy to do this sort of thing again in the future; just let me know what you want to see!
