If Square says differently, then I'll have to accept it, but until then - I just think their relationship was definitely close but platonic.

Vanille slept with Sazh too, so...

Anyway, I never really got the impression that they were lesbian lovers because of stuff like Sazh calling her a kid several times, Vanille calling herself a kid and Fang calling Vanille a kid aswell. Their relationship seemed more sisterly to me. It doesn't really help when the web novel says stuff like "eyes of a child" and "eyes of an adult" and then having Rygdea compare them to Lightning and Serah.

She was back to back with him. In the novels, Fang mentions Vanille would cling to her in her sleep, begging Fang never to leave her. And that they've been sleeping in the same bed since Oerba.

Fang also beats the shit out of a bunch of guys for making Vanille cry, and cups her face saying they made a promise never to be separated.

I don't really care if people don't ship them together or happen to like them just platonic, that's one thing -- but if the only basis for the argument against them being romantically involved is just because they are both girls, then I have a problem. If you objectively look at their relationship had Fang remained a male, there would be no argument.

Vanille is 19, and Sazh calls everyone a kid. You could make a drinking game out of how many times the word 'kid' is tossed around in the English version tbqh.

They did (the other children of Oerba), but once they became l'Cie, they didn't. I don't know what happened.

When I first played it I didn't see it, until I thought that if Fang had been a man in the same circumstances then I'd have probably assumed they were supposed to be romantic.

Honestly, unless I'm forgetting something, Crisis Core Zack and Aerith didn't even do anything more than what Fang and Vanille did.

You continue to use the word "sexual" when we are trying to express that the relationship is romantic.

I hope you realize what's wrong with that wording and why it makes a difference. :|
